More trouble for Mehbooba in offing, expelled leader challenges party’s decision
New Twist in PDP’s expulsion fiasco:

Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 23: A new twist in the ongoing tussle between the PDP rebels and their party was witnessed on Thursday when one of its expelled leaders termed his removal as unprincipled and unconstitutional, declaring that he still was a PDP man.
The leader in question is Dilawar Mir who along with Democratic Party Nationalist Chief Ghulam Hassan Mir addressed scribes in Jammu’s Press Club. When asked about his expulsion from the PDP recently, Mir described the action as contrary to the party’s norms and constriction. Substantiating his claims, expelled Dilawar Mir said that the authority to expel any member rests with the party President Mehbooba Mufti who at present is under detention. “I am still a PDP man and no one has any authority to remove from the party’s basic membership,” Mir declared in a press conference.
On January 9, this year, PDP expelled eight party leaders on the grounds of meeting the members of a foreign delegation in Srinagar without the consent party.
The party spokesman at that time stated that it expelled the leaders for going "against the will of the people" by engaging in parleys with the government. "PDP expels leaders for going against the will of the people," the party said in a press release posted on its official Twitter handle. The leaders who were expelled are Dilawar Mir, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Zaffar Iqbal, Abdul MajeedPadroo, Raja Manzoor Khan, JavaidHussainBaig, Qamar Hussain and Abdul Rahim Rather -- all former MLAs.
Earlier, these PDP leaders had accompanied former PDP rebel Altaf Bukhari and met JK’s Lt Governor Girish Chader Murmu, seeking restoration statehood, internet and protection in land and jobs.
14 days later, a new twist is being witnessed in PDP’s expulsion controversy with those removed from their posts by the party questioning the legality of such an action. Dilawar’s Mir’s statement carries significance as at present there are apprehensions mounting that there could be one more rebellion in offing for the PDP- a party which has been battling hard times since its ally BJP pulled out the support from coalition government on June 19,2018.”It means those expelled from the party and those raising the rebellion flag high do not consider themselves as outsiders and if their number becomes more than those who obedient, it will have a major impact on party’s future and those disgruntled from the party can possibly take the front seat and may control its affairs. It is going to be a PDP within a PDP- something which no longer be termed as ingenious suppositions of the political pundits in Jammu and Kashmir,” says a senior political leader from Kashmir.
Furthermore, besides Dilawar Mir, Ghulam Hassan Mir also raised several eyebrows by his intriguing statement, refusing any existence of 3rd front in Jammu and Kashmir. Mir said the saner voices of the erstwhile state have come together to demand what rightfully belongs to inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir.
