Poonch, Jan 28: The Zonal Education Officer Sathara has virtually become stumbling block in functioning of Government Primary School Kakra Khalani of Tehsil Mandi of district Poonch as she has denied to handover the seized school records to newly appointed teachers ostensibly to favour previous teachers, who were attached due to truancy.
Sources told Early Times that the functioning of the Government Primary School at village Kakra Khalani in Ward No. 1 of panchayat Khanoo Khani has been obstructed the concerned ZEO.
“There were two teachers in this school, who were close relatives. Only one of them remained present at time in the school. They were habitual truants due to which study of students was adversely affected. After making complaints by the locals, the education authority attached both of them and appointed new teachers in the school but astonishingly, the concerned ZEO Sathara, who had seized the records of the school denied to handover to new teachers,” said local residents including Mohammad Shafi of Ward No. 1, Mohammad Bashir, Zaheer Ahmad, Zafar Hussain.
Sarpanch of Panchayat Khanoo Khani, Khalid Iqbal, said that he complaint to the higher authority, regarding the adamant attitude of ZEO, who is shielding delinquent teachers by not giving school records to the new teachers.
New teachers said that they have been facing difficulties in absence of school records. “We can’t mark our attendance, New admissions can’t be made without records,” they said.
When Early Times contacted the ZEO Sathara Parvesh Akhtar, she admitted that records have been seized by her due to irregularities were reported and there are vacations these days and records will be given to teachers after vacations are over.
