1/29/2020 11:14:19 PM
Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Jan 29: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Wednesday visited the Central Record Room at RTI Bemina and reviewed the digitisation process of revenue records of the district.
He conducted a comprehensive review of updation of Jamabandis and digitisation of revenue records - aimed at achieving their purification and improving public service delivery - being conducted on mission mode in the district.
It was informed that Jamabandis of 99 out of 137 villages have been completed so far. It was said that the current achievement is up from 33 revenue villages whose Jamabandis was completed upto March last year.
The DC lauded the Revenue and Survey & Land Records departments and field functionaries and the involved consultants and technical team for what he described as commendable work. He stressed the importance of ensuring early quality checks and earliest possible digitisation of all revenue records.
It was also informed that 76 of these completed Jamabandis have been handed over for scanning.
It should be noted that Jamabandis of most revenue villages are being updated after 30-40 years — because of which it has become a time consuming process in view of huge number of land transactions having taken place during this time.
In order to ensure error-free updation process a strict mechanism has been put in place at the centre and the performance of revenue officers and officials is being strictly monitored.
While lauded the Revenue department and its field functionaries and the involved consultants and technical team for what he described as commendable work the DC stressed the importance of ensuring early quality checks and purity and authenticity of revenue records.
On the occasion he sanctioned 30 lakh rupees for acquiring additional equipment including computers with UPS units and furniture for digitisation purposes at the Central Record Room. The sanctioning of the amount is aimed at enabling fast-tracking of quality checks and the overall records scanning process.
Dr Shahid also commended the local educated youth hired for technical work for their excellent job. He announced fortnightly cash awards of 10000, 5000 and 3000 rupees for best preforming officials and technical staff hired for the job.
Speaking on the occasion he said the project is being tailored with the Smart City project to bring about efficient service delivery into it adding that all Tehsils of the district will be equipped accordingly.
