Vigyan Parishad conducts state level science camp

Jammu, Feb 3: Vigyan Parishad (J&K), State Chapter of Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), conducted State Level Science Camp of Vidhyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) 2019 in collaboration with CSIR-IIIM Jammu for the students of Class VI to XI on 2nd Feb 2020.
Eighteen top students were selected through rigorous procedure out of 144 students, who were initially shortlisted from more than 1400 registered students at the preliminary stage. Twelve of these selected would be invited to participate in National Level Talent Search Camp to be held in Chandigarh on 16-17 May 2020.
The programme was conducted by team of Vigyan Parishad J&K comprising of Prof. Rajni Kant (President), Prof. Pawanesh Abrol (Vice President), Prof. Parveen Lehana (Vice President), Samir Vohra (Org. Secretary), Dr. Dhiraj Vyas (Secretary), Deepak Byotra (Jt. Secretary), Pankaj Gupta (Treasurer) and Ajay Verma (Co Coordinator VVM).
Whilst welcoming the participating students for this talent search VVM Exam, the Organising Secretary Samir Vohra apprised the audience about the structure of VVM and other National Level Competitive Examinations which are available for those students who are willing to take up science as a career. Prof. Parveen Lehana, Coordinator of VVM and Vice President Vigyan Parishad spoke about the spirit of various activities of Vigyan Bharati of which the one is VVM. Deepak Byotra gave a detailed report of the event and informed that the VVM examination has, in order to felicitate young budding scientists, a practice of awarding students for their merit based performance in the state level camp.
Professor Rajni Kant, President, Vigyan Parishad, spoke at length about how the scientific culture and temper can be cultivated amongst the children with the help of their peers and teacher. He emphasized the importance of practical work in the schools at all the middle and secondary levels so that students could look towards technology with a different perception.
While addressing the students, he laid special emphasis for the parents to lend emotional support to their wards and that they must spend quality time with them so that they could shape up their children as confident and useful citizens of the nation.
