jammu, Feb 6: Bagh-e-Bahu Police today registered FIR in the alleged rape of a woman in Police custody from Delhi to Doda, during a stay at Bagh-e-Bahu area in the month of September 2019.
The case has been registered after the intervention of the IGP Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, when the victim lady met the Police Chief of Jammu zone on Tuesday.
"A case in this regard has been registered against Riaz Ahmed resident of Batote, under section 376 on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim lady", SHO, Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station inspector Sunil Sharma said, adding that medical test of the victim was conducted today.
Disappointed over Doda Police's inaction, the victim lady on this Tuesday rushed to Jammu and explored possibilities for justice. "After media support and a helping hand from Police, especially, the IGP Jammu, we reposed our faith in Police. But, the Doda Police deliberately wasted time on one and other pretexts", family members of the victim lady, after her medical test at Gandhi Nagar Hospital Jammu, informed Early Times.
"Though it is too late for the medical examination, but as per the SOP, same has been done. A case in this regard was registered today. Further investigation has been started", said, adding that Police department should fix responsibility on the part of Doda Police for the delay in an investigation that too after Court's order to conduct a preliminary inquiry within a week.
