Another shocker to J&K residents

Early Times Report
jammu, Feb 7: After abolition of five year age relaxation for youth of Jammu and Kashmir in civil services examinations conducted by Union Public Services Commission (UPSC), the Union government has given another shocker by making it clear that no decision regarding domicile law has been taken.
This assertion was made by Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy, in the lower house of parliament, in written response to an un-starred question of Member Parliament PR Natrarjan.
The MP had asked, whether the Government has taken any decision to bring domicile law to protect the lands, properties and jobs in Jammu region. He had also called for details of the constitutional rights already available and the rights in the new proposed domicile law, along with reasons if no decision has been taken so far.
Instead of giving a detailed reply, the MOS Home Affairs gave a written reply, which reads, "As on date, the Government has not taken any decision regarding domicile law in Jammu and Kashmir". Moreover, the reply of Home Ministry was silent over the other questions of MP, who has asked reasons for not bringing law.
The written response of Home Ministry gained significance in view of its previous reply on December 11, 2019 in Rajya Sabha, when it had made it clear that it would not bring any legislation on the lines of Article 371 for protection and property in J&K on the pattern of Himachal Pradesh.
Unconfirmed reports and utterances from politicians, especially from state Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders have been making rounds for the last many days that the Union government has been mulling to introduce some residency norms in Jammu and Kashmir but the written replies of Union government spoke otherwise.
"It has been six months since the abrogation of Article 370, but Union has not taken any decision for protection of land rights and jobs for J&K, which is surprising and creates more suspicion among the minds of common people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially of Jammu, who had otherwise supported the revocation but want protection of jobs and land rights", a local youth said, adding that Union government should make it clear on the issue without any further delay.
