Early Times Report

Rajouri, Feb 9: The administration of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri has allegedly been causing huge dent to the State exchequer as well as downgrading the health facilities, which can be substantiated with the fact that despite spending lakhs on Annual Maintenance Charges (AMC), the CT Scan machine remains out of order most of the time.
Sources told Early Times that CT Scan machine (Single Slice) was installed in the hospital in 2011. The machine was purchased from Toshiba Company, which set up it in the hospital but shockingly machine went out of order just six months of its installation.
“The machine never functioned properly ever since its installation and continued to encountered with some technical snags depriving patients of the facilities. Although Toshiba Company was given AMC contract of the CT Scan and its technician used to pay visit whenever problem occurred but company used to take 5-6 months to repair the part of the machine and in the meanwhile patients had to get their CT scan from the market on exorbitant rate. Apart from Rajouri district, the hospital caters services to the people of Poonch and Reasi also,” they said.
They further said that there are many other diagnostic machines which have been installed by Toshiba company in the Hospital, which are functioning properly but CT Scan machine is found non functional due to some technical snag in it. Sources in the hospital said that the CT scan machine installed in the hospital is not advanced one and is very basic machine. Various protests were staged against hospital administration for its slackness. They alleged that there is a well nit nexus between the doctors and the private diagnostic centers, which is the main cause that CT Scan machine remain non functional for most of the time.
“Although hospital spends lakhs for annual maintenance of CT Scan yet it doesn’t work properly, which causes huge loss to the State exchequer,” they alleged.
When contacted, MS GMC Rajouri, Dr Raghubir said that he spoke to Toshiba to inquire about this matter. “We have lodged FIR against Toshiba Company for its negligence and have terminated the contract with it. Now we have given AMC to JK Medicity, which will sort out the issue at the earliest,” Dr Raghubir said.
