JAMMU, Feb 20: Special Judge NIA Jammu Subash C Gupta today extended 15 days judicial remand of DySP Devinder Singh S/o Deedar Singh R/o Overigund, Tral, Pulwama J&K, Syed Naveed Mushtaq Shah @ Naveed Baba, S/o Syed Mushtaq Ahmad Shah,R/o Nazneepora, Keegam Shopain, J&K, Irfan Safi Mir, S/o Late Mohd. Safi Mir R/o House No 44, Diaroo Keegam, Shopain, J&K, Rafi Ahmed Rather S/o Ab Rashid Rather R/o -Batpora/ Herpora Police Station Imam Sahib Shopain, J&K and Syed Irfan Ahmad @ Irfan, aged 26 yrs, son of Syed Mushtaq Ahmed, resident of Nazneenpora, District Shopian, J&K.
Court observed that today, the accused–Davinder Singh is produced before me from the Sub-Jail, Hiranagar, whereas other accused namely Syed Naveed Mushtaq Shah alias Naveed Babu alias Babar, Irfan Shafi Mir, Rafi Ahmed Rather & Syed Irfan Ahmed alias Irfan from the Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal Jammu, through video conference.
Court observed that keeping in view the facts and the circumstances of the case, gravity and heinousness of the crime as involved in the present matter, submissions made by the CIO of the NIA and the stage of the investigation of the case, the court is of the considered opinion that remanding of the accused to further judicial custody as prayed by the NIA through the medium of the present application is imperative for completion of the ongoing investigation. Accordingly, the prayer made by the NIA seems to be genuine and justified. Hence, the application of CIO, NIA, in the matter for judicial remand is hereby allowed for fifteen days. Accordingly, ordered. The jail authority is directed to have the medical examination of the accused, on need basis and in accordance with jail manual, during the remand period. The accused, who are remanded are apprised of their rights to engage legal counsels and to have advise from them, in the matter.
