Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 24: Natraj Natya Kunj Cultural Society Jammu today staged 3rd show of Dogri play 'Pachaas Saal Baad’ at NNK studio Bakshi Nagar Jammu. Prepared in Month long Folk Theatre workshop this play is based on the Dogri folk theatre form Haran, was scripted by Abhishek Bharti, turned out to be peerless production under the directorial elegance of Aaditya Bharti.
'Pachaas saal baad’ echoes the plight of today’s women and their constant struggle in society. The main focus of the play was on save girl child, educate the girl child and generate awareness to improve the condition of women in our society. It’s a play which potraes the heart wrenching pain caused by the 'crime against women' and its wide spread effects. Play tries to give message that if we educate a woman the whole nation is educated and empowering a woman means empowering the nation. The play based on the plight of women captures the growing violence on women and society’s heartless attitude.
Today’s play in Dogri dialect was a kind of collage in which dramatic action narrated through theatrical elements drawn from Duggar folk forms like Haran, Kud, Bhaakh, geetru, suhaag, Ghodian was interspersed with well choreographed compositions in modern idiom of theatre. The rich costumes make the play successful in symbolically creating the grandeur of the Folk Theatre.
The other strong points of the presentation was the well thought use of background music and live songs composed by Abhishek Bharti which greatly enhanced emotive import of scenes conceived to bring best out of the actors. Everyone in the audience appreciated the acting skills of artists and lauded them for their efforts. Those who acted in this play include Lalit Sharma, Niharika Sakshi, Surbhi Balgotra, Arun Bral, Ritik Mahajan, Daksh Sagoch, Pratham Sharma, Vaibhav Sagoch, Shivam Chib. Music by Abhishek Bharti, Lights by Aaditya Bharti, make up by Niharika Sakshi. Programme was co-ordinated by Lalit Sharma.
