BANDIPORA, Mar 31: The district administration here today declared four villages as Red Zones as a precautionary measure after several COVID-19 positive cases were reported from these areas.
Invoking prohibitory orders under Epidemic Diseases Act 1897, Section 144 of the CrPC and Disaster Management Act, 2005, Nodal Officer COVID-19 Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Reyaz Ahmad Beigh said four villages Parray Mohalla Hajin, Chandergeer Hajin, Batagund Hajin and SK Bala Hajin were declared red zones. He said there would be no inward and outward movement of any person from the villages declared as Red zone and the people should stay inside their homes to ensure complete lockdown. He warned of stern action against violators as per provision of relevant Acts.
The order was issued in view of the COVID-19 positive case from Hajin, Bandipora due to which the area has become vulnerable as far as transmission of the COVID-19 virus is concerned.
According to a letter vide no: DCB/PS/2020/3020-23 dated 30/03/2020, four villages of Bandipora district have been declared as Red Zones, including of Parray Mohalla, Chandergeer Hajin, Batagund, and S K Bala Hajin.
However sources said that, police has taken a cognizance of various non compliance reports of section 144 CrPc that has been imposed by the district administration in Bandipora district. Police made public announcements in various areas of the district, where they were seen requesting all the people including men, women and children to stay at home, stay safe, while as many areas have been sanitized today by the concerned MC departments.
Still after the announcement, people come out during early morning and late evening hours, due to which threat looms large in many areas as they believe that they may not come in contact with any person who have travelled to Kashmir from other parts of the country.
By and large complete lockdown was observed in the three districts of North Kashmir Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora.
Right from today morning, police vehicles were pressed into service that were making announcements for staying at home, and advised people not to venture unnecessarily out of their homes.
Sources told Early Times that people observed complete lockdown and maintained social distances, adding earlier there were reports regarding the violation of section 144 CrPc in various areas.
