‘Attending religious congregation no sin, hiding travel history a big sin’
Nizamuddin Markaz controversy
4/2/2020 12:25:43 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 1: People who visited Tableeghi Jamaat religious gathering at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi in mid March and returned to J&K are being searched for.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has urged the people who attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin to come forward to get themselves tested to prevent the COVID-19 from spreading into the community.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “People should understand that if they don’t get themselves tested they will put lives of many others at stake. They have not committed any sin by attending the religious congregation but by hiding their travel history they are committing a sin.”
He said, “Some people are trying to create a notion that Muslims are being blamed for spreading the COVID-19 but that’s not true. Everyone is only concerned about one thing that if anyone has come in contact with the COVID-19 positive case he should come forward voluntarily.”
He said, “People should stop playing politics over COVID-19 and put in extra effort to prevent this virus from spreading into the community.”
Referring to the recent statement of former J&K Chief Minister, and National Conference vice-president, Omar Abdullah that Muslims are being blamed for “spreading Coronavirus” the analyst said, “Omar should realize that this is not the time to divide the people on religious lines. This deadly virus is hitting humans hard, irrespective of their caste, colour and creed.”
Another analyst said, “The Tableegi Jamaat people should have acted responsibly. When the government had sounded the alert for the virus, they should have called off the congregation. Had they done so things would not have been so bad. Still it’s not too late the people who have been a part of these congregations and gatherings should come forward to get themselves tested and identify the people whom they have met during the past 15-days.”
He said, “With each passing day number of cases are increasing in the country and many people have not been traced so far. We still don’t know the exact number of people who could have been affected by this deadly virus.”
It’s in place to mention here that the Delhi Police have registered a case against the Maulana of Nizamuddin Markaz and others for the violation of government directions and for organising the religious congregation against directions.
The Maulana and others of Tablighi Jamaat have been booked with regard to not following the restriction of social, political, religious gathering and for other safety measures.
According to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, 441 people, who were taken out of the Markaz and showed symptoms similar to COVID-19, were admitted to different hospitals for testing.
