Residents of Raina Colony Babliana left to fend for themselves
Munish Gupta wants early redressal of peoples problems
4/3/2020 11:10:10 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 3: At a time when the people are entitled to modern means of life those living in the Raina Colony, Babliana are not even getting the facilities that a common man is entitled to receive.
The Raina Colony, Babliana is a part of the Gandhi Nagar constituency and it is presenting a sordid tale of absolute neglect from the people at helm. The successive governments have failed the people of this colony and they are suffering like anything.
Jatinder Pal Singh, a resident said that the roads of the colony are in dilapidated condition adding that no concern has been shown towards this glaring problem of the colony. He demanded that roads should be maintained in proper condition so that the locals move around without any difficulty whatsoever.
“Ditches and potholes have come up on the roads in the colony and they are yet to be set right by the authorities. During the rainy season the rain water gets collected in these ditches and potholes. It gets difficult to move around but the same does not make any difference for the people who ruled us in the past,” said Jatinder.
Yet another resident Gurmeet Singh said that the municipal authorities have failed them since the garbage remains unattended on the roads for days together thus creating problems for the people to move on the roads. They said that some of the garbage gets collected in drains thus creating yet another problem.
“The garbage including the polythene sheets gets collected in the drains and as such there is choking of the drains. Since the drains are open the foul smell emanating from the same create problems for the residents. This issue needs to be resolved and that too at the earliest,” said Rajbadher Singh.
Diljeet Singh, a resident said that the roads need to be properly macadamized so that there is no dust during the summer season. He said that many health related issues in the area are due to the dust that comes up due to the bad roads of the area. Yet another resident Kulwant Singh said that wild grass has come up at many places in the colony and the same has not been cut by the concerned authorities for the reasons best known to them. He demanded that the grass needs to be cut so that the colony gives a good look to the locals as well as outsiders.
Divender Singh, a resident said that residents of Raina Colony are craving for the basic amenities and it is the duty of the government to provide them all the facilities. He said that people of the area are living a primitive life since the basic amenities are being denied to them.
Munish Gupta, Editor-in-Chief Early Times has demanded that the government should pay immediate attention to the problems of the people living in the Raina Colony. Munish said that people of the colony have been left at the mercy of God and no concrete action is being taken to mitigate the sufferings.
Munish who is going to contest the next assembly election from Gandhi Nagar constituency as independent candidate said that the residents are not only entitled to basic things but to other things that come up with the passage of time. He said that swift action is need of hour and government should speed up the process of mitigating the problems of people.
