Handwara Police book 24 persons for defying prohibitory orders, two vehicles seized

KUPWARA, Apr 3: Jammu and Kashmir police have booked 24 persons today that were defying the prohibitory orders with regard to Covid-19 and simultaneously seized two vehicles in Handwara area of this north Kashmir district, while as no Friday prayers were held in Mosques across the north Kashmir district.
According to police handout, in its efforts to ensure complete lockdown across Handwara for the safety of people, despite clear lockdown orders of Govt and time to time announcements made by Handwara Police via loud speakers today 24 more persons have been arrested and 02 Vehicles seized by Handwara Police in its jurisdictional Police Stations for violating the orders issued U/s 144 CrPC.
In the jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara Case FIR No. 103/2020 U/s 188 IPC has been registered against 4 persons who were found violating the orders imposed by District Magistrate U/s 144 CrPC, said police statement.
It said that, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Qalamabad 08 Persons have been arrested and 1 Vehicle seized in Case FIR No. 20/2020 U/s 188 IPC for violating the prohibitory orders.
Similarly Police Station Vilgam Case FIR NO 21/2020 U/s 188 IPC has been registered in which 12 persons have been arrested and 1 Vehicle seized for violating the orders imposed U/s 144 CrPC.
Once again people of Handwara are requested to follow Govt advisories/orders so that this deadly virus/ COVlD-19 could be controlled, said a police statement.
However sources said that, early morning of Friday, police had made an announcement wherein they said that, people are advised not to venture out of their homes, and at the same time they are requested to offer Friday congregational prayers inside their houses.
To ensure the complete lockdown, people should offer their Friday prayers inside their houses; otherwise stern action will be taken out against the violators, sources informed early times.
Meanwhile complete restrictions were imposed in all the districts of north Kashmir including Kupwara, Baramulla and Bandipora.
Nobody was allowed to hold the congregational prayers in the grand mosques today, while as the traffic was off from the roads, only emergency vehicles including ambulances were allowed to ply on the roads.
