Govt sends tough message by not revoking Mehbooba's PSA detention
'PDP in no mood to change its attitude, refuses to follow nationalist line'

Early Times Report
jammu, Apr 7: The government not revoking the PSA detention of PDP president and former J&K chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti, is a hint that no concessions will be given till you change your attitude.
The authorities on Tuesday shifted Mehbooba Mufti from M A Road to her Fairview residence at Gupkar in Srinagar and declared it a subsidiary jail. The government order clearly mentioned that her PSA detention has not been revoked and she continues to be under detention.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Despite Mehbooba's party being at brink a few PDP leaders and even her daughter, who is handling Mehbooba's twitter account, have been issuing very provocative statements. Luckily people are not paying any heed towards these loaded statements, which can lead to trouble."
He said one of the PDP leaders tried his best to instigate the people against the J&K domicile law order, even after it was amended and administration is very much aware about these utterances. "It looks like that Mehbooba won't be released soon. She has been shifted to her Fairview residence due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Had the pandemic not been there she would have continued to remain confined at government accommodation at M A Road," the analyst added.
He said that a few PDP leaders, who have become bit vocal after the revival of political activities, are talking about constitutional rights and are advising people not to welcome any moves being made by the Centre. "It seems PDP is in no mood to give up the activities which it has carried out in the past. It wants to beat round the old bush and flog the dead horse."
An observer said, "PDP leaders seem to be in no mood to understand that situation in J&K has changed post August 5, 2019 and they won't be able to sell hollow slogans and blatant lies. If they have to remain relevant then they will have to fall in the line. If they continue to behave as rebels, then their future is bleak and it can lead to detention of Mehbooba and few other PDP leaders getting prolonged."
Its in place to mention here that since the day National Conference vice-president, Omar Abdullah, has been released he has been demanding that Mehbooba too should be set free. After she was shifted to her Fairview residence, Omar demanded that restrictions on her should be lifted completely.
