LG should convene All Party meet over corona virus: Harsh
4/8/2020 9:59:05 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 8: Urging upon the Lt. Governor to convene an all party meet (APM) over Covid-19 on the analogy of central govt, Harsh Dev Singh, chairman JKNPP and former minister emphasized the need for roping in different political parties for tiding over the prevalent crisis.
He said that corona pandemic is an occasion for all political parties to unite and support the initiatives of the administration in fighting the deadly virus and in preventing its spread. With number of cases growing with each passing day, the preventive measures needed to be more rigorously enforced, said Singh.
Appealing the Lt Governor GC Murmu for holding such a meeting with political parties, Singh said that not only could the pubic problems and grievances be highlighted in the said meet, but some genuine suggestions could also come forth from the public representatives.
“Several issues were not receiving due attention of the govt probably due to preoccupation of the concerned authorities which had caused severe hardships for various sections of society. There were several complaints of scarcity of food grains and other eatables in several remote areas of J&K. Further there were complaints of overcharging of essential commodities. The farmers in hilly areas were facing problems in sowing maize crops due to non availability of seeds and other inputs. The denial of 4G internet services had created problems in communication besides hampering the online academic work. The paramedicos and staff nurses working in GMCs had been arbitrarily terminated at a time when they were required the most. The reports of duplicate sanitizers and ineffective masks being sold in the market had created an alarm amongst the masses. There were reports of shortage of equipments and N95 masks besides PPE in hospitals for the doctors and attendant staff. The labourers of J&K held in other states were facing acute problems of food and shelter. There were reports of deaths of certain workers in other states or their NOKs in J&K but no initiatives were taken on the part of govt to ensure their transportation and the like issues”, observed Singh.
He expressed the hope that the Lt. Governor would immediately convene such a meeting in the larger interests of the people of the UT especially the poor, indigent masses.
