Pvt Company executing Hydel project at Draba denies salary to its local employees
Mgt falsely implicated Employees’ Union president for raising protest
4/8/2020 10:40:23 PM

POONCH, Apr 8: Disregarding the appeal of Prime Minister, a private company, which is executing a hydroelectric project at Draba of district Poonch has allegedly denied the salaries to its local employees, who have been working as labourers during lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 in the entire country.
Not only this, the company stooped to such a low that it falsely got implicated the president of employees’ union for raising his voice demanding release of their salary.
The company Patel Engineering Ltd has been executing Parnai Hydro Electric Project at Draba for the last many years, where local people have been working on various capacities particularly labourers, drivers etc. but due to lockdown they have not been paid their salary of this period thereby making it difficult for the them to run their houses.
“After the announcement of lockdown, the company suspended the work on March 30 and asked the workers not to come on work but it has not released the salary of 60-70 workers who are mostly the locals for the months of February and March,” said aggrieved employees further adding that they have been living under severe difficulties in absence of money, they are unable to buy essential commodities.
The distressed employees further said that when they raised the issue of pending salary before their union president Muzamil Khan telephonically as they are not able to go out due to complete lockdown, he (president) assured that he would do something adding that he then called up the management and asked them about the issue but they didn’t listen to his request. “When President Muazamil Khan went to meet the concerned Project Manager Sandeep and HR Head Badri, he was not allowed to meet them. He remained standing at Gate which was locked,” they said further adding that shockingly Project Manager and HR Head lodged an FIR against him accusing him of snapping electricity and water supply to their residents.
“Consequently, Muzamil was arrested and later released but shockingly, after few days company terminated him,” they informed.
The aggrieved employees appealed to Lieutenant Governor to take note of their plights and demanded strong action against the erring officials of the private company which dishonoured the Prime Minister’s request.
Meanwhile, they also demanded reinstatement of terminated employee Muzamil Khan.
