Early Times Report

ANANTNAG, May 30: In order to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, K K Sidha on Saturday ordered the closer of at least six health facilities including a Nursing Home.
The health facilities have been closed by invoking provisions of Epidemics Diseases Act, 1987.
District Magistrate Anantnag, who is also the chairman of DDMA, in his order says that during reverse contract tracing of some COVID-19 positive pregnant ladies it has come in his knowledge that they have visited health facilities thus making them probable sources of infection.
“In order to rule out the suspicion and as a prophylactic measure, it is necessary to close the said establishments to prevent the spread of disease,” read the order issued by DM Anantnag.
Health facilities which District Magistrate Anantnag has closed including Al-Hayat Nursing Home Anantnag, Bismillah Diagnostic Centre Mattan, Gatoo Diagnostic Bijbehara. In addition to this, District Magistrate has also ordered the closer of three private clinics run by leading gynecologists of Anantnag town.
District Magistrate Anantnag has directed all the owners of these health facilities to provide the particulars of all employees (medical / non-medical/ supporting staff) to concerned block Medical Officers so that they can carry out their sampling on priority and furnish test reports for further course of action.
However, the district administration and health authorities didn’t order the closer of a private dialysis center where a patient also tested positive for coronavirus.
On 25th of this month, 55 year old lady from Shalgam village of Bijbehara had also tested positive for coronavirus. The lady, according to sources, was availing treatment in a private dialysis center located at Batengoo Anantnag.
Chief Medical Officer Anantnag Dr Muktar Ahmad said that private dialysis center was falling under the jurisdiction of Chief Medical Officer Kulgam; however CMO Kulgam Dr Fazil Kochak rebutted the claims of CMO Anantnag and said that dialysis center had got the registered from CMO Office Anantnag.
Sources claimed that dialysis center wasn’t closed and proper protocol wasn’t fallowed in disinfecting the center. “Dialysis center and other establishments where patients tested positive should have been closed and disinfected completely besides that the staff should have been sampled as per the protocol,” they added.
District Magistrate, K K Sidha, on being contacted, assured to look into the matter.
Earlier, District Magistrate inspected Government Medical College Anantnag and ordered the augmentation of Isolation Ward. “Medical isolation facility for symptomatic COVID +ve patients has been augmented to 64 from existing 14 at Government Medical College Hospital Anantnag,” District Information Officer Anantnag said, in a communiqué.
