Pakistan shells areas along LoC in Poonch district, man injured
5/31/2020 11:19:18 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 31: Whitewashed walls of residential house pockmarked with bullet holes, rooftop caved in, is a testimony of how tension unfolds in the villages along the line of control (LoC) when trigger happy Pakistani soldiers start pounding shells from their respective posts.
Today morning during wee hours, 24-year-old, Muhammad Yasir, was injured when killer shell pierced through roof of his house in Ghulad village in Mendhar sector. The victim was sleeping, when all of a sudden shell exploded inside the room.
‘’Flurrying splinters hit my right leg. I was screaming with intense pain. There was an atmosphere of scare all around,’ ‘ recounts Yasir undergoing treatment in hospital.
Yasir had to wait for three hours to reach the hospital, as heavy shelling prevented hospital ambulance from reaching spot to evacuate him.
‘‘Our men risked their lives to save the life of Yasir. With the first break of light, we managed to reach his place and got him shifted to hospital. Now his condition is stable,’’ said Dr Parker Khan, Block Medical Officer Mendhar.
Two houses were completely ripped apart and more than 10 were partially damaged due to pounding of heavy calibre weaponry from across the border.
The second time during the last 36 hours, this area has been targeted. Initially, shelling started from Gholad village and later it spread to other villages like Rasuni, Lanjote, Behrote, Dabsi, Panjabi, Suhaila and Upper Drama.
The border between India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has been the scene of unrelenting firing for more than a year now.
Army commanders on ground blame Pakistan of using shelling as cover to push in terrorist.
According to a report by security agencies, the presence of around 450 terrorists including those from Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), has been seen on launchpads adjacent to the LoC.
To divert the attention of troops deployed on the border, Pakistani soldiers, as a part of the strategy, resort to heavy shelling so that they facilitate terror infiltration.
In short, people living along LoC are hit by the double whammy of killer Coronavirus and Pakistani shelling. In such situation they find themselves caught between the devil and the deep sea.
During last, one week only there had been more 12 ceasefire violations along LoC in Poonch, Mendhar and Balakote sector. Every time Indian troops have to give them befitting reply to silence Pakistani guns
