SRINAGAR, June 5: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness a spike in the Corona Virus cases as 182 fresh positive cases of COVID-19 came to the fore from the different districts. In the meantime, the death toll reached 36 as a Corona Virus positive woman died due to other ailments.
Reports said that 65 years old from the Batmaloo area in Srinagar was admitted at the SMHS hospital on Thursday since she was suffering from some ailments. She passed away in the evening and the COVID-19 report was also received in the late hours yesterday. She was declared a Corona Virus positive following the rest report.
In the meanwhile, 182 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported from different districts of Jammu & Kashmir. Shopian district reported 42 cases followed by Udhampur 26 cases, Srinagar 22 cases, Kupwara 13 cases, Jammu 12 cases, Ramban and Kathua 11 cases each, Budgam nine cases, Baramulla seven cases, Anantnag six cases, Doda five cases, Bandipora and Samba four cases each, Kulgam, Pulwama, Poonch and Rajouri two cases each, Ganderbal and Reasi one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government today informed that 182 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 74 from Jammu division and 108 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 3324. Also, one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 38 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 16 from Jammu division and 22 from Kashmir division. Out of 3,324 positive cases, 2202 are active positive, 1,086 have recovered and 36 have died; four in Jammu division and 32 in Kashmir division. The bulletin further said that out of 2, 02,257 test results available, 1, 98,933 samples have been tested as negative till date.
Additionally, till date 2,04,900 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 44,017 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 48 in hospital quarantine, 2,202 in hospital isolation and 55,520 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 03,077 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Anantnag district has 383 positive cases, 223 active positive, 155 recovered, five deaths; Srinagar has 366 positive cases, 214 active positive, 143 recovered, nine deaths; Kulgam has 364 positive cases, 309 active positive, 51 recoveries, four deaths, Kupwara has 331 positive cases, 248 active positive, 82 recovered, one death; Baramulla has 308 positive cases, 197 active positive, 104 recovered, seven deaths.
“Shopian has 282 positive cases, 146 active positive, 133 recovered, three deaths; Bandipora has 180 positive cases, 43 active positive, 136 recovered, one death; Budgam has 138 positive cases, 69 active positive, 67 recovered, two deaths; Pulwama has 121 positive cases, 108 active positive, 13 recovered and Ganderbal has 42 positive cases, 16 active positive and 26 recoveries,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 190 positive cases, 125 active positive cases, 63 recoveries, two deaths; Ramban has 164 positive cases, 148 active positive, 16 recoveries; Udhampur has 123 positive cases, 93 active positive cases, 29 recovered, one death; Kathua has 94 positive cases, 62 active positive, 32 recovered; Poonch has 65 positive cases, 63 active positive, two recoveries.
“Samba has 55 positive cases, 34 active positive, 21 recoveries; Rajouri has 48 positive cases, 43 active positive, five recovered; Doda has 35 positive cases, 33 active positive, one recovered, one death; Reasi has 18 positive cases, 15 active positive, three recovered and Kishtwar has 17 positive cases, 13 active positive, four recovered,” reads the bulletin. According to the bulletin, out of 3,324 positive cases 1389 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
