SRINAGAR, July 2: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir saw a spurt in the Corona Virus deaths as 10 more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours or so. In the meantime, 154 persons including a senior leader of National Conference tested positive for the virus today.
Reports said that the 10 patients who died in past 24 hours belong to Doda, Kawoosa-Budgam, Nadigam-Shopian, Habba Kadal-Srinagar, Kulgam, Tarigam-Kulgam, Batmaloo-Srinagar, Budgam, Hatipora-Kulgam and Sopore-Baramulla. So far 101 COVID-19 patients have died in Kashmir, while as 14 such deaths have occurred in Jammu division.
Reports said that Srinagar reported 51 fresh cases followed by Baramulla 19 cases, Anantnag 17 cases, Kulgam 15 cases, Budgam 12 cases, Pulwama 10 cases, Ganderbal seven cases, Doda six cases, Samba five cases, Jammu & Udhampur four cases each, Bandipora two cases and Ramban & Shopian one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 154 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 20 from Jammu division and 134 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 7,849. Also 10 COVID-19 deaths, nine from Kashmir Division and one from Jammu Division have been reported.
Moreover, 118 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 38 from Jammu Division and 80 from Kashmir Division. Out of 7,849 positive cases, 2,760 are active positive, 4,974 have recovered and 115 have died; 14 in Jammu division and 101 in Kashmir division. The bulletin said that out of 3, 77,961 test results available, 3, 70,112 samples have tested as negative till date.
Additionally, till date 2, 88,136 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 40,953 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 33 in hospital quarantine, 2,760 in hospital isolation and 45,761 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 98,514 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 1021 positive cases, 619 active positive, 375 recovered, 27 deaths; Baramulla has 928 positive cases, 501 active positive, 409 recovered, 18 deaths; Kulgam has 846 positive cases, 233 active positive, 597 recovered, 16 deaths; Shopian has 801 positive cases, 178 active positive, 611 recovered, 12 deaths; Anantnag district has 692 positive cases, 131 active positive, 552 recovered, nine deaths.
“Kupwara has 553 positive cases, 134 active positive, 413 recovered, six deaths; Pulwama has 518 positive cases, 263 active positive, 251 recovered, four deaths; Budgam has 434 positive cases, 189 active positive, 237 recovered, eight deaths; Bandipora has 296 positive cases, 32 active positive, 263 recovered, one death and Ganderbal has 110 positive cases, 48 active positive, 62 recovered,” said the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 363 positive cases, 71 active positive, 284 recovered, eight deaths; Udhampur has 284 positive cases, 102 active positive, 181 recovered, one death; Kathua has 232 positive cases, 66 active positive, 165 recovered, one death; Ramban has 223 positive cases, 36 active positive, 187 recovered; Samba has 152 positive cases, 46 active positive, 106 recovered.
“Poonch has 123 positive cases, 12 active positive, 110 recovered, one death; Rajouri has 115 positive cases, 54 active positive, 60 recovered, one death; Doda has 86 positive cases, 25 active positive, 59 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 45 positive cases, 14 active positive, 31 recovered and Kishtwar has 27 positive cases, six active positive, 21 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 7,849 positive cases, 2,362 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
