SRINAGAR, July 3: The death toll due to the Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 119 as four more persons died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. In the meantime, 170 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported today.
Reports said that fresh Corona Virus deaths were reported from Rajbagh-Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam and Shopian. Reports said that Srinagar reported 41 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Kupwara 24 cases, Baramulla and Anantnag 21 cases each, Jammu 13 cases, Kathua 10 cases, Ganderbal eight cases, Samba six cases, Kulgam and Budgam five cases each, Ramban, Rajouri and Doda three cases each, Bandipora and Kishtwar two cases each and Shopian one case.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 170 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 42 from Jammu division and 128 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 8,019. Also four COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 101 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 50 from Jammu Division and 51 from Kashmir Division. Out of 8,019 positive cases, 2,825 are active positive, 5,075 have recovered and 119 have died; 14 in Jammu division and 105 in Kashmir division.
The bulletin said that out of 3, 85,501 test results available, 3, 77,482 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 2, 90,760 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 40,929 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 39 in hospital quarantine, 2,825 in hospital isolation and 44,736 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 02,112 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 1062 positive cases, 627 active positive, 407 recovered, 28 deaths; Baramulla has 949 positive cases, 518 active positive, 412 recovered, 19 deaths; Kulgam has 851 positive cases, 237 active positive, 598 recovered, 16 deaths; Shopian has 802 positive cases, 178 active positive, 611 recovered, 13 deaths; Anantnag has 713 positive cases, 150 active positive, 554 recovered, nine deaths.
“Kupwara has 577 positive cases, 153 active positive, 418 recovered, six deaths; Pulwama has 518 positive cases, 257 active positive, 257 recovered, four deaths; Budgam has 439 positive cases, 193 active positive, 237 recovered, nine deaths; Bandipora has 298 positive cases, 32 active positive, 265 recovered, one death and Ganderbal has 118 positive cases, 56 active positive, 62 recoveries,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 376 positive cases, 73 active positive, 295 recovered, eight deaths; Udhampur has 286 positive cases, 92 active positive, 193 recovered, one death; Kathua has 242 positive cases, 64 active positive, 177 recovered, one death; Ramban has 226 positive cases, 39 active positive, 187 recovered; Samba has 158 positive cases, 44 active positive, 114 recovered.
“Poonch has 123 positive cases, 11 active positive, 111 recovered, one death; Rajouri has 118 positive cases, 52 active positive, 65 recovered, one death; Doda has 89 positive cases, 27 active positive, 60 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 45 positive cases, 14 active positive, 31 recovered and Kishtwar has 29 positive cases, eight active positive, 21 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 8,019 positive cases 2,420 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
