Srinagar, July 4: Assuring an impartial investigation into the death of a civilian in Sopore firing, in which a CRPF jawan was also killed on July 1, a senior police officer on Saturday that police was ready to share the CCTV footage of the incident with the family members.
The family members have alleged that Bashir Ahmad Khan was dragged out from the car and later shot dead by CRPF, after a militant attack on a patrol party left a jawan dead and three others wounded at Model Town in Sopore on the morning of July 1.
However, police and CRPF rejected the allegations and said Khan was killed in the firing by militants from a nearby Mosque.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar on Friday visited the bereaved family members at Mustafa Colony HMT on Srinagar-Baramulla road, to pay his condolence on the death of Khan.
Later Mr Kumar, who was accompanied by other senior officers, said he heard the grievances of the family members. ‘’I cleared all aspects and assured them that an impartial investigation into the incident will conducted.
Khan, a contractor, had taken his about three-year-old grandson from Srinagar to Sopore, when the incident took place.
