SRINAGAR, July 4: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir saw a spike in Corona Virus deaths as eight more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. At the same time 227 fresh cases of COVID-19 came up in the union territory today.
Reports said that three fresh COVID-19 related deaths were reported from Baramulla followed by Srinagar two deaths and Anantnag, Kupwara & Ganderbal one death each. Following the fresh casualties the number of people killed by the Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir has reached 127. Srinagar has the maximum number of casualties with 30 deaths.
Meanwhile, reports said that Baramulla reported 57 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Shopian 46 cases, Srinagar 33 cases, Budgam 26 cases, Pulwama 17 cases, Jammu 12 cases, Samba 10 cases, Kupwara seven cases, Bandipora five cases, Anantnag and Rajouri four cases each, Kulgam and Udhampur two cases each and Poonch & Doda one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 227 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 30 from Jammu division and 197 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 8,246. Also eight COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 68 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 20 from Jammu Division and 48 from Kashmir Division. Out of 8,246 positive cases, 2,976 are active positive, 5,143 have recovered and 127 have died; 14 in Jammu division and 113 in Kashmir division. Out of 3, 92,919 test results available, 3, 84,673 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 2, 93,355 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 40,409 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 43 in hospital quarantine, 2,976 in hospital isolation and 44,693 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 05,107 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 1091 positive cases, 638 active positive, 423 recovered, 30 deaths; Baramulla has 1006 positive cases, 563 active positive, 421 recovered, 22 deaths; Kulgam has 854 positive cases, 240 active positive, 598 recovered, 16 deaths; Shopian has 848 positive cases, 224 active positive, 611 recovered, 13 deaths; Anantnag district has 717 positive cases, 153 active positive, 554 recovered, 10 deaths.
“Kupwara has 584 positive cases, 159 active positive, 418 recovered, seven deaths; Pulwama has 534 positive cases, 263 active positive, 267 recovered, four deaths; Budgam has 466 positive cases, 216 active positive, 241 recovered, nine deaths; Bandipora has 303 positive cases, 28 active positive, 274 recovered, one death and Ganderbal has 121 positive cases, 58 active positive, 62 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 388 positive cases, 79 active positive, 301 recovered, eight deaths; Udhampur has 288 positive cases, 92 active positive, 195 recovered, one death; Kathua has 242 positive cases, 64 active positive, 177 recovered, one death; Ramban has 226 positive cases, 39 active positive, 187 recovered; Samba has 168 positive cases, 48 active positive, 120 recovered.
“Poonch has 124 positive cases, 10 active positive, 113 recovered, one death; Rajouri has 122 positive cases, 53 active positive, 68 recovered, one death; Doda has 90 positive cases, 28 active positive, 60 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 45 positive cases, 13 active positive, 32 recovered and Kishtwar has 29 positive cases, eight active positive, 21 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 8,246 positive cases 2,449 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
