SRINAGAR, July 7: The death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 143 as five more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. At the same time 256 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported today.
Reports said that two fresh deaths of Corona Virus were reported from Baramulla while as one death each was reported from Srinagar, Kulgam and Anantnag districts respectively. So far 129 COVID-19 deaths have occurred in Kashmir and the number is 14 in Jammu.
Reports said that Srinagar reported 61 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Baramulla 30 cases, Rajouri 20 cases, Kupwara 18 cases, Kulgam and Pulwama 16 cases each, Ganderbal 14 cases, Doda 13 cases, Jammu 12 cases, Budgam and Kishtwar 10 cases each, Anantnag and Bandipora eight cases each, Poonch seven cases, Kathua six cases, Udhampur, Samba and Ramban two cases each and Shopian one case.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 256 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 74 from Jammu division and 182 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 8,931. Also five COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 81 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 22 from Jammu Division and 59 from Kashmir Division. Out of 8,931 positive cases, 3,389 are active positive, 5,399 have recovered and 143 have died; 14 in Jammu division and 129 in Kashmir division. Out of 4, 13,358 test results available, 4, 04,427 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 3, 02,227 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 40,332 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 45 in hospital quarantine, 3,389 in hospital isolation and 45,419 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 12,899 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 1277 positive cases, 778 active positive, 465 recovered, 34 deaths; Baramulla has 1094 positive cases, 616 active positive, 450 recovered, 28 deaths; Kulgam has 924 positive cases, 293 active positive, 614 recovered, 17 deaths; Shopian has 862 positive cases, 220 active positive, 629 recovered, 13 deaths; Anantnag district has 729 positive cases, 153 active positive, 564 recovered, 12 deaths.
“Kupwara has 625 positive cases, 183 active positive, 435 recovered, seven deaths; Pulwama reported 588 positive cases, 313 active positive, 271 recovered, four deaths; Budgam has 499 positive cases, 205 active positive, 284 recovered, 10 deaths; Bandipora has 316 positive cases, 31 active positive, 282 recovered, three deaths and Ganderbal has 134 positive cases, 55 active positive, 78 recovered,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 415 positive cases, 97 active positive, 310 recovered, eight deaths; Udhampur has 293 positive cases, 85 active positive, 207 recovered, one death; Kathua has 260 positive cases, 64 active positive, 195 recovered, one death; Ramban has 241 positive cases, 54 active positive, 187 recovered; Samba has 201 positive cases, 78 active positive, 123 recovered.
“Rajouri has 148 positive cases, 76 active positive, 71 recovered, one death; Poonch has 132 positive cases, 16 active positive, 115 recovered, one death; Doda has 106 positive cases, 43 active positive, 61 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 48 positive cases, 13 active positive, 35 recovered and Kishtwar has 39 positive cases, 16 active positive, 23 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 8,931 positive cases 2,586 have been reported as travelers while 6345 as others.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
