SRINAGAR, July 9: The death toll due to the Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 155 as six more persons died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. At the same time 240 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the union territory today.
Reports said that six more persons including a young leader of National Conference from Jammu died due to Corona Virus in the past 24 hours. Reports said that a death each was reported from Srinagar, Baramulla, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama and Jammu respectively. Srinagar tops the list with 37 deaths.
Reports said that Srinagar reported 58 fresh cases followed by Baramulla 37 cases, Kupwara 32 cases, Budgam and Rajouri 18 cases each, Ganderbal 14 cases, Jammu 12 cases, Samba nine cases, Anantnag eight cases, Shopian seven cases, Bandipora and Poonch five cases each, Pulwama, Kathua and Kishtwar four cases each, Doda three cases and Kulgam two cases.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 240 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 55 from Jammu division and 185 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 9,501.
Moreover, 128 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 54 from Jammu Division and 74 from Kashmir Division. Out of 9,501 positive cases, 3,652 are active positive, 5,695 have recovered and 155 have died; 15 in Jammu division and 140 in Kashmir division. Out of 4, 29,787 test results available, 4, 20,286 samples have tested as negative till date.
Additionally, till date 3, 06,434 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 38,939 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 44 in hospital quarantine, 3,652 in hospital isolation and 45,713 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 17,932 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 1451 positive cases, 920 active positive, 494 recovered, 37 deaths; Baramulla has 1214 positive cases, 677 active positive, 506 recovered, 31 deaths; Kulgam has 930 positive cases, 266 active positive, 646 recovered, 18 deaths; Shopian has 873 positive cases, 206 active positive, 652 recovered, 15 deaths; Anantnag district has 764 positive cases, 162 active positive, 590 recovered, 12 deaths.
“Kupwara has 676 positive cases, 211 active positive, 458 recovered, seven deaths; Pulwama has 593 positive cases, 310 active positive, 278 recovered, five deaths; Budgam has 522 positive cases, 219 active positive, 292 recovered, 11 deaths; Bandipora has 328 positive cases, 43 active positive, 282 recovered, three deaths and Ganderbal has 153 positive cases, 74 active positive, 78 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 429 positive cases, 107 active positive, 314 recovered, eight deaths; Udhampur has 298 positive cases, 56 active positive, 241 recovered, one death; Kathua has 265 positive cases, 63 active positive, 201 recovered, one death; Ramban has 243 positive cases, 37 active positive, 206 recovered; Samba has 217 positive cases, 85 active positive, 132 recovered.
“Rajouri has 189 positive cases, 102 active positive, 86 recovered, one death; Poonch has 137 positive cases, 21 active positive, 115 recovered, one death; Doda has 123 positive cases, 57 active positive, 64 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 52 positive cases, 17 active positive, 35 recovered and Kishtwar has 44 positive cases, 19 active positive, 25 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 9,501 positive cases in J&K 2696 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
