Four fresh deaths push COVID-19 death toll in JK to 159, 387 new cases reported

SRINAGAR, July 10: The Corona Virus cases continue to surge in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir and the death toll due to the virus continues to go up. Three hundred eighty seven fresh cases of virus were reported today with four patients dying due to the virus in the past 24 hours.
Reports said that two deaths were reported from Srinagar followed by a death each in Anantnag and Kupwara districts respectively. Following the fresh deaths the death toll due to COVID-19 in Jammu & Kashmir has reached 159. Srinagar tops the list with 39 deaths followed by Baramulla.
Reports said that Srinagar reported 94 fresh cases followed by Rajouri 51 cases, Pulwama 47 cases, Baramulla 36 cases, Kupwara 34 cases, Kulgam 33 cases, Jammu 23 cases, Shopian 14 cases, Anantnag and Ramban 11 cases each, Bandipora eight cases, Ganderbal and Kathua seven cases each, Budgam six cases, Poonch two cases and Doda, Reasi & Samba one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government today informed that 387 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 97 from Jammu division and 290 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 9,888. Also four COVID-19 deaths have been reported Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 91 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 35 from Jammu Division and 56 from Kashmir Division. Out of 9,888 positive cases, 3,943 are active positive, 5,786 have recovered and 159 have died; 15 in Jammu division and 144 in Kashmir division. Out of 4, 37,928 test results available, 4, 28,040 samples have tested as negative till date.
Additionally, till date 3, 08,573 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 38,509 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 44 in hospital quarantine, 3,943 in hospital isolation and 44,932 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 20,986 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 1545 positive cases, 1012 active positive, 494 recovered, 39 deaths; Baramulla has 1251 positive cases, 707 active positive, 513 recovered, 31 deaths; Kulgam has 963 positive cases, 298 active positive, 647 recovered, 18 deaths; Shopian has 887 positive cases, 209 active positive, 663 recovered, 15 deaths; Anantnag district has 775 positive cases, 171 active positive, 591 recovered, 13 deaths.
“Kupwara has 709 positive cases, 243 active positive, 458 recovered, eight deaths; Pulwama has 640 positive cases, 331 active positive, 304 recovered, five deaths; Budgam has 528 positive cases, 224 active positive, 293 recovered, 11 deaths; Bandipora has 336 positive cases, 50 active positive, 283 recovered, three deaths and Ganderbal has 160 positive cases, 73 active positive, 86 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 452 positive cases, 121 active positive, 322 recovered, nine deaths; Udhampur has 298 positive cases, 51 active positive, 246 recovered, one death; Kathua has 272 positive cases, 65 active positive, 206 recovered, one death; Ramban has 254 positive cases, 48 active positive, 206 recovered; Rajouri has 240 positive cases, 151 active positive, 88 recovered, one death.
“Samba has 218 positive cases, 81 active positive, 137 recovered; Poonch has 139 positive cases, 21 active positive, 117 recovered, one death; Doda has 124 positive cases, 54 active positive, 68 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 53 positive cases, 14 active positive, 39 recovered and Kishtwar has 44 positive cases, 19 active positive, 25 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 9,888 positive cases in J&K 2759 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
