Early Times Report

Jammu, July 12: Former Chief Minister and National Conference, President Omar Abdullah’s recent reaction on the killing of gangster Vikas Dubey in Uttar Pradesh has opened a Pandora’s box of troubles for the NC leader.
Reacting to the encounter, Omar had seemingly taunted tweeting –“Dead men tell no tales #VikasDubey!”
Omar is being trolled since for his tweet with people raising questions over similar incidents that took place during his controversial regime as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
While Omar continues to be under the scanner for the mysterious death of his own party leader Haji Yousuf allegedly at then CM’s Gupkar residence, a fake encounter of a man in Jammu equally haunts the NC leader.
His tweet on Vikas Dubey has made the skeletons come out of the closet.
As per reports, Rakesh Kumar alias Giri son of Jeet Lal of ward No 4, RS Pura, was killed in an allegedly fake encounter near Marble Market in the periphery of posh Trikuta Nagar (extension) locality on November 21, 2010.
That time Omar Abdullah government had termed the killing a great success for security forces.
But within days it came to fore that the slain man was a resident of RS Pura killed in alleged fake encounter.
Various groups have since been demanding a high level probe into the incident.
As per media reports, Giri and his associates -Yudhvir Singh alias Babloo of RS Pura and Sumit Choudhary alias Sunny Baba of Nai Basti - were alleged to have been hired to eliminate witnesses in the Amandeep Singh murder case.
The witnesses had gone to attend the marriage function of their relative at City Farms near Marble Market. While police, who were tracking their mobile phone numbers, had killed Giri in an alleged fake encounter, Yudhvir had survived with bullet wounds. Baba was said to have escaped from the spot.
Omar had celebrated the allegedly fake encounter till the things got exposed leaving him red faced.
The other infamous case is the mysterious death of NC worker in Kashmir.
Haji Yousuf’s controversial death, during his questioning at the Chief Minister’s residential office on September 29, 2011, had led to a storm in the mainstream political camp as his family members and several opposition parties levelled allegations of “custodial killing” against Omar and a coterie of his confidantes.
Yousuf had been called to Abdullah’s residence after a National Conference (NC) worker and Abdullah’s representative in Ganderbal Assembly segment, Muhammad Yousuf Bhat, complained that Yousuf had collected Rs 87 lakh from him with the promise that he would be nominated as an MLA and thereafter a Minister of State in charge of the Public Works Department.
On Bhat’s verbal complaint Abdullah, as head of the party, called Yousuf for verification and handed him over to the then Inspector General of Crime, Raja Aijaz Ali, for the registration of an FIR, investigation and returning of the money to the complainant, if established. Aijaz reportedly brought Yousuf to his office, where his condition deteriorated and he was admitted to the Police Hospital. He died the next morning.
In 2015, during the then Peoples Democratic Party led government, the family of Haji Yousuf had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to personally intervene and direct Director General of police to file an FIR against Omar Abdullah.
Addressing media persons, Talib Hussain, the son of deceased NC worker said that Omar Abdullah cannot act as a judge in his own case.
“The statement by Omar Abdullah that he was innocent will not acquit him from the murder case. He cannot act as a judge in his own case. He has to get the clean chit from Supreme Court where our petition is pending disposal,” the family had said.
Despite repeated attempts Omar Abdullah was not available for comments.
Meanwhile the social media continues to be flooded with posts against Omar’s tweet on gangster Vikas Dubey.
