EARLY TIMES REPORT

NOWSHERA, July 13: Sheer negligence of the Block Medical Officer (BMO) Nowshera for not providing protective kits to staff of PHC Seri deployed in quarantine center has proved dearly to the staff as one of the Safai Karmacharis found COVID-19 positive.
Public Health Center (PHC) Seri, which is 10 bedded hospital in Sub Division Nowshera was made a quarantine center since the commencement of lockdown. The staff alleged that despite repeated requests to BMO Nowshera, they were not provided with PPE kits, masks, sanitizers etc.
Shockingly, on July 8, 2020 two persons were found COVID-19 positives in quarantine center, resulting all staff deployed in center was also gone through tests wherein sweeper of the PHC was found positives, which sent shock waves among the entire staff and other who were in touch with him.
Incharge PHC Seri Dr Manoj Kumar, Dental Surgeon, said that he approached BMO Nowshera, when two cases were found positive by saying that they should also be sent to self-quarantine but their demand was ignored. Even after this incident, no safety gears were provided to the staff of PHC Seri.
“When two positive cases were found in the PHC quarantine center, I informed ADC Nowshera also raised the issue of protective gears,” Dr Manoj said.
The entire staff came under shock ever since the Safai Karmachari was found positive as he took care of all patients as well as the staff. Moreover, the Safai Karamchari also went outside and met many local people, said sources.
Sarpanch Panchayat Seri Captain Balwant Raj, while talking to Early times alleged that he had also approached BMO Nowshera, when positive cases were found, adding that it was asked to provide safety gears to the hospital staff but he spoke to him rudely by saying that to mind his own work.
“BMO Nowshera is very rude, incompetent officer due to which staff of PHC Seri has come under COVID-19 threat,” he alleged. The local residents demanded immediate transfer of BMO Nowshera for his unprofessional approach. They alleged that he never listened to the problems of people who visited him at his office. They demanded inquiry into this matter.
Despite repeated calls to BMO Nowshera Dr Satpal, he didn’t pick the phone for his version. Meanwhile, when ADC Nowshera Sukhdev Singh Sambyal was contacted, he said that he would look into the matter.
He further said that it is responsibility and duty of the concerned BMO to provide all proactive gears to the staff.
