SRINAGAR, July 14: With eight fresh deaths the death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 195 even as 346 fresh cases of the virus were reported today. Bharatiya Janta Party’s Jammu & Kashmir President Ravinder Raina was among the fresh COVID-19 patients.
Reports said that Baramulla reported three deaths followed by Kulgam two deaths and Jammu, Anantnag and Shopian one death. In the Kashmir valley, 177 persons have so far died due to the Corona Virus while as in Jammu the number of casualties due to the virus are 18. Srinagar tops the list with 46 deaths.
Reports said that Srinagar reported 127 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Anantnag 58 cases, Pulwama 39 cases, Bandipora 16 cases, Budgam and Doda 14 cases each, Baramulla, Shopian and Jammu 11 cases each, Kathua and Rajouri 10 cases each, Kulgam seven cases, Kishtwar five cases, Ganderbal four cases, Kupwara and Reasi three cases each and Ramban, Poonch and Samba one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 346 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 56 from Jammu division and 290 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 11,173. Also eight COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and seven from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 128 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 28 from Jammu Division and 100 from Kashmir Division. Out of 11,173 positive cases, 4,755 are active positive, 6,223 have recovered and 195 have died; 18 in Jammu division and 177 in Kashmir division. Out of 4, 66,333 test results available, 4, 55,160 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 3, 17,904 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 38,211 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 24 in hospital quarantine, 4,755 in hospital isolation and 45,537 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 29,182 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 1,933 positive cases, 1,357 active positive, 530 recovered, 46 deaths; Baramulla has 1337 positive cases, 727 active positive, 572 recovered, 38 deaths; Kulgam has 1028 positive cases, 328 active positive, 678 recovered, 22 deaths; Shopian has 929 positive cases, 213 active positive, 699 recovered, 17 deaths; Anantnag district has 860 positive cases, 248 active positive, 597 recovered, 15 deaths.
“Kupwara has 805 positive cases, 288 active positive, 506 recovered, 11 deaths; Pulwama has 701 positive cases, 322 active positive, 372 recovered, seven deaths; Budgam has 586 positive cases, 252 active positive, 320 recovered, 14 deaths; Bandipora has 401 positive cases, 103 active positive, 295 recovered, three deaths and Ganderbal has 205 positive cases, 101 active positive, 100 recovered, four deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 524 positive cases, 169 active positive, 344 recovered, 11 deaths; Kathua has 326 positive cases, 96 active positive, 229 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 303 positive cases, 26 active positive, 276 recovered, one death; Rajouri has 285 positive cases, 191 active positive, 93 recovered, one death; Ramban has 271 positive cases, 62 active positive, 209 recovered.
“Samba has 269 positive cases, 124 active positive, 144 recovered, one death; Doda has 148 positive cases, 74 active positive, 72 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 147 positive cases, 25 active positive, 121 recovered, one death; Reasi has 60 positive cases, 21 active positive, 39 recovered and Kishtwar has 55 positive cases, 28 active positive, 27 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 11,173 positive cases in J&K, 2971 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
