COVID-19 death toll in JK reaches 417 as 10 more die, 390 fresh cases come up

SRINAGAR, Aug 4: The COVID-19 death toll in union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 417 as 10 more people died due to virus in past 24 hours. Meanwhile, 390 new cases of virus were reported today in the union territory.
Srinagar and Budgam reported three each Corona Virus deaths followed by Pulwama two deaths and a death each in Baramulla and Bandipora districts. Kashmir valley has so far reported 387 COVID-19 deaths with the number of casualties in Jammu division being 30. Srinagar has the maximum number of 138 deaths.
As far as fresh cases are concerned, Srinagar reported 99 new cases followed by Jammu 41 cases, Anantnag 37 cases, Ganderbal and Reasi 28 cases each, Udhampur 26 cases, Rajouri 21 cases, Kupwara 20 cases, Baramulla, Pulwama and Poonch 14 cases each, Shopian and Samba 11 cases each, Budgam nine cases, Doda seven cases, Bandipora five cases, Kathua four cases and Kulgam one case.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 390 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19),152 from Jammu division and 238 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 22,396. Also 10 COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 824 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 291 from Jammu Division and 533 from Kashmir Division. Out of 22,396 positive cases, 7,123 are active positive, 14,856 have recovered and 417 have died; 30 in Jammu division and 387 in Kashmir division. It said that out of 6, 71,413 test results available, 6, 49,017 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 3, 76,393 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 44,229 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,123 in isolation and 43,078 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 81,546 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 5,432 positive cases, 2,300 active positive, 2,994 recovered, 138 deaths; Baramulla has 1,968 positive cases, 443 active positive, 1,452 recovered, 73 deaths; Pulwama has 1,628 positive cases, 723 active positive, 881 recovered, 24 deaths; Kulgam has 1,524 positive cases, 173 active positive, 1,322 recovered, 29 deaths; Shopian has 1,485 positive cases, 224 active positive, 1,238 recovered, 23 deaths. “Anantnag district has 1,411 positive cases, 270 active positive, 1115 recovered, 26 deaths; Budgam has 1,345 positive cases, 436 active positive, 878 recovered, 31 deaths; Kupwara has 1,161 positive cases, 200 active positive, 940 recovered, 21 deaths; Bandipora has 820 positive cases, 273 active positive, 532 recovered, 15 deaths and Ganderbal has 518 positive cases, 180 active positive, 331 recovered, seven deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 1,300 positive cases, 583 active positive, 696 recovered, 21 deaths; Rajouri has 741 positive cases, 288 active positive, 451 recovered, two deaths; Udhampur has 581 positive cases, 216 active positive, 364 recovered, one death; Ramban has 574 positive cases, 131 active positive, 442 recovered, one death; Kathua has 551 positive cases, 139 active positive, 411 recovered, one death; “Samba has 457 positive cases, 176 active positive, 280 recovered, one death; Doda has 299 positive cases, 80 active positive, 217 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 248 positive cases, 95 active positive, 152 recovered, one death; Reasi has 198 positive cases, 138 active positive, 60 recovered and Kishtwar has 155 positive cases, 55 active positive cases; 100 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 22,396 positive cases in J&K, 4,593 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
