Tehsildar office RS Pura looks like an abandoned house
Overgrown bushes, dilapidated rooms narrates pathetic state of affairs

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 6: The Tehsildar Office RS Pura, which is bustling with activity and presence of domicile seekers these days, looks like an old century building, with overgrown bushes in the lawn, leaking roofs, un-painted walls speaks volumes about the official neglect towards the building.
It appears that the core message of much acclaimed Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan (SWA) has not reached the Tehsildar office RS Pura as the dilapidated condition of the building, has so far failed to catch the eye of any of the bureaucrat so far.
As per the photographs in possession of Early Times, overgrown bushes could be seen in the lawn of Tehsildar office RS Pura, while the only traces of footpaths leading to some rooms, have appeared to be formed by the regular footfall of the visitors to the office. The plaster of the walls is eroding, while walls seem to be painted decades back which is evident from some fade traces of the paint left at some portion of the walls.
The condition of rooms from inside is more worrisome as roots of trees, grown over the roof have barged through the roof and could be visible at the walls. The record files available in the room are also in pathetic state as the room looks more a junk yard rather than a record room of functional government office.
According to locals of the area, the Tehsildar office RS Pura is visited by hundreds of people each day and most of rush these days is of the domicile seekers. “Whenever there are rains, water gets accumulated in the lawn and it becomes difficult to visit the rooms. Moreover the overgrown bushes and other garbage and rubbish littered here and there, is appropriate breeding ground for the insects, rodents as well as reptiles”, a local said, adding that it was shocking to notice that the senior officers of state bureaucracy have been sitting in the offices but turned blind eye towards the matter.
Another local said that even the employees of the department have also been complaining of the pathetic condition of the crumbling structure but so far the administration has failed to take any corrective steps. “More worrisome is that the officials have not taken any initiative to facelift the structure”, a local said, adding that the condition of the building premises has been same for the last many years.
Tehsildar RS Pura Gandeep Kumar said that he would look into the matter and would take proper action.
