SRINAGAR, Aug 10: The death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 478 as six more persons died due to virus in past 24 hours. The number of positive cases of COVID-19 in the union territory reached 25,367, as 470 fresh cases were reported today.
Srinagar reported 115 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Bandipora 79 cases, Jammu 58 cases, Baramulla 41 cases, Budgam 31 cases, Pulwama 30 cases, Kupwara 17 cases, Anantnag and Ramban 16 cases each, Ganderbal 15 cases, Shopian 14 cases, Kulgam 10 cases, Kathua eight cases, Rajouri and Samba five cases each, Doda four cases and Udhampur, Reasi & Kishtwar two cases each.
While Srinagar reported two fresh deaths, a death each was reported from Pulwama, Kulgam, Kupwara and Ganderbal districts. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 470 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 102 from Jammu division and 368 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 25,367.
Moreover, 372 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 90 from Jammu Division and 282 from Kashmir Division. Out of 25,367 positive cases, 7,514 are active positive, 17,375 have recovered and 478 have died; 35 in Jammu division and 443 in Kashmir division. Out of 7, 25,542 test results available, 7, 00,175 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 3, 95,216 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 40,932 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,514 in isolation and 48,716 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 97,576 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 6,263 positive cases, 2,411 active positive, 3,698 recovered, 154 deaths; Baramulla has 2,178 positive cases, 453 active positive, 1,643 recovered, 82 deaths; Pulwama has 1,860 positive cases, 689 active positive, 1,140 recovered, 31 deaths; Kulgam has 1,619 positive cases, 170 active positive, 1,418 recovered, 31 deaths; Budgam has 1,568 positive cases, 449 active positive, 1084 recovered, 35 deaths.
“Anantnag has 1,569 positive cases, 344 active positive, 1,192 recovered, 33 deaths; Shopian has 1,534 positive cases, 190 active positive, 1,320 recovered, 24 deaths; Kupwara has 1,273 positive cases, 236 active positive, 1,010 recovered, 27 deaths; Bandipora has 1,101 positive cases, 453 active positive, 630 recovered, 18 deaths and Ganderbal has 689 positive cases, 297 active positive, 384 recovered, eight deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 1,613 positive cases, 746 active positive, 843 recovered, 24 deaths; Rajouri has 763 positive cases, 235 active positive, 525 recovered, three deaths; Udhampur has 625 positive cases, 204 active positive, 419 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 605 positive cases, 57 active positive, 547 recovered, one death; Kathua has 602 positive cases, 90 active positive, 511 recovered, one death.
“Samba has 522 positive cases, 184 active positive, 337 recovered, one death; Doda has 315 positive cases, 36 active positive, 277 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 275 positive cases, 96 active positive, 178 recovered, one death; Reasi has 228 positive cases, 144 active positive, 84 recovered, Kishtwar has 165 positive cases, 30 active positive, 135 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 25,367 positive cases, 5,047 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
