8/13/2020 11:52:35 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 13 Apprehending fresh infiltration attempts from across the border in view of Independence Day celebrations, the Border Security Force has intensified patrolling in water bodies along the International Border in Jammu Frontier.
Having intelligence inputs that terrorists waiting on other side of the border, the guarding force have further strengthened security grid along 200-kms long stretch from Paharpur (Kathua district) to Akhnoor Sector (Jammu) including water bodies particularly in River Chenab by the Water Wing of the force.
"Adequate measures have been taken to foil any infiltration attempt from across the border including enhanced patrolling especially in the water bodies as there are inputs that terrorists may make a bid to cross over taking advantage of rising water level at various locations during monsoon,' reliable sources here said.
They further said that their aim may be to take benefit of water bodies close to the International Border following which motor boats have also been pressed into service for patrolling.
'Troops are on high alert and maintaining vigil all along the international border besides in the water bodies including Ujh (Kathua), Basantar (Samba) and Chenab (Jammu) rivers,' they stated.
The sources however, said that due to flash floods and fast water currents, fencing at some places got damaged, which cannot be repaired at the moment due to monsoon season but instead, patrolling has been enhanced.
"River Chenab is most challenging for the BSF as it gets diverted at nearly five locations, which covers 30 to 35 BSF posts from Kanhachak sector to Hamirpur Kona,'they asserted.
The sources affirmed that the troops conduct regular patrolling day and night, adding, 'Independence Day is also round the corner and security forces are on high alert as fresh infiltration attempts by the terrorists cannot be ruled out.'
"Besides increased patrolling in water bodies, troops are also on alert on ground and keeping vigil in sky as in the recent past, Pakistan have also been taking an advantage of air route and through drones dropped arms and ammunition," they added.
