SRINAGAR, Aug 14: The COVID-19 recovery rate continues to improve in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir as 640 more Corona Virus patients were discharged from hospitals today. So far 19,942 (72.72 percent) COVID-19 patients have recovered in Jammu & Kashmir.
Meanwhile, 540 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported from different districts of union territory today. With today’s new cases the total number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir reached 27,489. The death toll due to the virus has reached 520 with 11 deaths reported in last 24 hours.
Srinagar reported six fresh deaths followed by two deaths each in Pulwama and Anantnag districts and a death in Kupwara district. Kashmir valley has so far reported 481 COVID-19 deaths with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 39. Srinagar tops the graph in this regard with 169 deaths.
Srinagar reported 108 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu 67 cases, Kupwara 65 cases, Bandipora 50 cases, Baramulla 47 cases, Budgam 37 cases, Ganderbal 32 cases, Pulwama and Anantnag 31 cases each, Kulgam 12 cases, Kathua nine cases, Shopian, Udhampur and Reasi eight cases each, Poonch six, Samba five cases and Rajouri, Ramban, Doda & Kishtwar districts reporting four cases each.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 540 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 119 from Jammu division and 421 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 27,489. Also 11 COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 640 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 204 from Jammu Division and 436 from Kashmir Division. Out of 27,489 positive cases, 7,027 are active positive, 19,942 have recovered and 520 have died; 39 in Jammu division and 481 in Kashmir division. Out of 7, 75,333 test results available, 7, 47,844 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 4, 09,414 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 41,737 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,027 in isolation and 47,531 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 12,599 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 6,680 positive cases, 1,878 active positive, 4,633 recovered, 169 deaths; Baramulla has 2,351 positive cases, 571 active positive, 1,694 recovered, 86 deaths; Pulwama has 2,016 positive cases, 580 active positive, 1,401 recovered, 35 deaths; Budgam has 1,714 positive cases, 491 active positive, 1,185 recovered, 38 deaths; Anantnag has 1,709 positive cases, 341 active positive, 1,331 recovered, 37 deaths.
“Kulgam has 1,688 positive cases, 196 active positive, 1,461 recovered, 31 deaths; Shopian has 1,553 positive cases, 81 active positive, 1,448 recovered, 24 deaths; Kupwara has 1,459 positive cases, 333 active positive, 1,094 recovered, 32 deaths; Bandipora has 1,301 positive cases, 561 active positive, 722 recovered, 18 deaths and Ganderbal has 849 positive cases, 380 active positive, 458 recovered, 11 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 1,843 positive cases, 729 active positive, 1,087 recovered, 27 deaths; Rajouri has 778 positive cases, 139 active positive, 636 recovered, three deaths; Kathua has 645 positive cases, 108 active positive, 536 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 642 positive cases, 99 active positive, 541 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 623 positive cases, 49 active positive, 573 recovered, one death.
“Samba has 546 positive cases, 169 active positive, 376 recovered, one death; Doda has 331 positive cases, 40 active positive, 289 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 316 positive cases, 115 active positive, 199 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 265 positive cases, 145 active positive, 120 recovered and Kishtwar has 180 positive cases, 22 active positive, 158 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 27,489 positive cases, 5,378 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
