Rajnath talks tough
9/15/2020 11:24:38 PM
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in his address to Parliament has made it clear that China won’t be allowed to have its way and India’s armed forces could go to any extent to safeguard the sovereignty of the country.
The Defence Minister talking tough has made it clear that India has kept all the options open and Chinese “gundagardi” won’t be tolerated. Rajnath Singh’s speech in the Parliament has made many things clear and the opposition leaders who were alleging that the government is not doing enough should sit back and introspect. By issuing statements they (opposition leaders) are playing into the hands of the adversary.
Recently, Chinese media had reported that Indian soldiers have found new boldness and have become proactive. It means that China also knows it very well that it’s not 1962, it’s 2020 and Indian armed forces are capable of foiling all the misadventures of any army.
News reports that are appearing in national and international media reveal that situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on Eastern Ladakh is very tense and war too can breakout. Armies of both the countries are at eye-ball to eye-ball confrontation and spark can lead to skirmishes.
The talks at the diplomatic level are on and efforts are being made to diffuse the tension on the LAC without firing any bullets. But the tough posture adopted by the China is making India explore all the options. Recently Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat had told the parliamentarians that armed forces are ready to tackle any eventuality.
At present ball is in China’s court and now it has to decide whether it wants to escalate the situation or deescalate it. If the Chinese don’t relent then war looks inevitable.
India’s leadership has reiterated it on many occasions that era of “expansionism” is over and our country wants peace, but our desire for peace should not be considered as our weakness.
Rajnath Singh has made it explicitly clear that there will be no compromise on country’s sovereignty and he has sent a strong message to China that India is ready for everything and morale of our troops is high. China is also aware about this fact and it knows it very well that it cannot go beyond tough posturing. China has to think many times before escalating the tension. It cannot take things for granted.
