Corona Virus cases continue to surge in JK as 1329 more people get affected, 19 fresh deaths

SRINAGAR, Sept 15: The death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 914 as 19 more people died in the past 24 hours. As 1,329 fresh cases were reported today the number of positive cases reached 56,654.
Jammu district reported seven fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Srinagar district three deaths, two deaths each in Udhampur, Doda & Ramban and one death each in Baramulla, Kupwara & Kathua districts. So far 740 Corona Virus deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while as the Jammu division has so far reported 174 such deaths.
Jammu district reported 254 fresh cases followed by Srinagar district 148 cases, Budgam district 127 cases, Doda district 114 cases, Rajouri district 105 cases, Pulwama district 70 cases, Kathua district 62 cases, Ganderbal district 59 cases, Anantnag district 57 cases, Udhampur district 51 cases, Kishtwar district 45 cases, Kupwara district 43 cases, Bandipora and Poonch districts 38 cases each, Samba district 31 cases, Ramban district 26 cases, Baramulla district 20 cases, Kulgam and Reasi district 15 cases each and Shopian district 11 cases.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,329 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 741 from Jammu division and 588 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 56,654. Also 19 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 14 from Jammu division and five from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 681 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 214 from Jammu Division and 467 from Kashmir Division. Out of 56,654 positive cases, 18,678 are active positive, 37,062 have recovered and 914 have died; 174 in Jammu division and 740 in Kashmir division. Out of 12, 70,310 test results available, 12, 13,656 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 27,802 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 34,530 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 18,678 in isolation and 60,298 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 13,382 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 11,942 positive cases, 1903 active positive, 9,784 recovered, 255 deaths; Budgam has 3,947 positive cases, 1477 active positive, 2397 recovered, 73 deaths; Baramulla has 3,517 positive cases, 958 active positive, 2,445 recovered, 114 deaths; Pulwama has 3,274 positive cases, 490 active positive, 2,722 recovered, 62 deaths; Anantnag has 2,976 positive cases, 726 active positive, 2,196 recovered, 54 deaths.
“Bandipora has 2,921 positive cases, 952 active positive, 1,940 recovered, 29 deaths; Kupwara has 2,906 positive cases, 933 active positive, 1,915 recovered, 58 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,205 positive cases, 537 active positive, 1,642 recovered, 26 deaths; Kulgam has 2,108 positive cases, 134 active positive, 1,934 recovered, 40 deaths and Shopian has 1,892 positive cases, 160 active positive, 1,703 recovered, 29 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 8,998 positive cases, 6,017 active positive, 2,882 recovered, 99 deaths; Rajouri has 1,626 positive cases, 752 active positive, 856 recovered, 18 deaths; Udhampur has 1,559 positive cases, 700 active positive, 853 recovered, six deaths; Kathua has 1,422 positive cases, 485 active positive, 924 recovered, 13 deaths; Samba has 1,135 positive cases, 500 active positive, 627 recovered, eight deaths.
“Doda has 1,053 positive cases, 576 active positive, 462 recovered, 15 deaths; Poonch has 995 positive cases, 557 active positive, 432 recovered, six deaths; Ramban has 865 positive cases, 209 active positive, 653 recovered, three deaths; Kishtwar has 681 positive cases, 357 active positive, 321 recovered, three deaths and Reasi has 632 positive cases, 255 active positive, 374 recovered, three deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 56,654 positive cases in J&K, 7,860 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
