Early Times Report

RAJOURI, Sept 18: Residents of village Dandesar of Tehsil Nowshera held a protest demonstration against the non-functional Power Grid Station at Siot that results in the unscheduled and maximum power cuts to the area.
Tens of dozens of residents assembled and chanted slogans against the concerned Power Development Department and demanded proper and hassle free electricity supply.
The protest demonstration was organized under the leadership of Social Activist, Noval Sharma wherein the protesting residents blamed the PDD department officials posted in the area of negligence of their duries hence adding to their sufferings.
“We are facing acute power shortage and the unscheduled power supply have become a cause of great concern in our areas,” the protesting residents revealed.
They said that there is no power schedule, even electricity supply remains on halt of days altogether. “The Grid Station set up in the areas remains non functional and the concerned department do not take cogence of the same hence adding to the miseries of people,” they said.
The protesters said that their children cannot study and their classes are being affected by the improper power supply. “Negligence of PDD employees posted in the areas has resulted in the delay in the functionality of the Grid Station since they were appealed and appraised multiple times by the residents.
Noval Sharma said that the aforesaid Grid Station was constructed three years ago but due a some geographical hurdles its working was halted. “The main power supply to the Grid Station is hurdled by a small hill top that also interrupts the live wires,” Noval said and added that so far the department failed to address the issue despite being appraised and requested multiple times.
Three years have passed since the Grid Station was established with ray of hope for the people but the residents are still reeling under darkness, Noval added.
On the occasion, Noval took up the matter with the concerned PDD department. The PDD officers assured him that the issues will be resolved at the earliest and proper power will be supplied to the areas. “The electricity was disrupted due to technical issues and it will be resolved as soon as possible,” PDD officers assured.
Noval Sharma appealed to the Lt Governor to intervene into the matter and give direction to the authorities concerned for early functional of power grid Siot so that the people of the area may get relief from the unscheduled power supply.
