SRINAGAR, Sept 22: The COVID-19 death toll in Jammu & Kashmir reached 1,042 as 18 more persons died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. The number of positive cases reached 66,261 as 1235 fresh cases of virus were reported today.
Jammu district reported five fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Srinagar district four deaths, Anantnag district three deaths and two deaths each in Baramulla, Kupwara and Doda districts. So far 789 COVID-19 patients have died in Kashmir valley while as the number of such deaths in Jammu division is 253.
Jammu district reported 253 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar 210 cases, Doda district 98 cases, Poonch district 73 cases, Rajouri district 68 cases, Udhampur district 64 cases, Pulwama district 62 cases, Budgam district 59 cases, Samba district 52 cases, Kathua district 41 cases, Kishtwar district 37 cases, Bandipora district 36 cases, Ramban district 35 cases, Baramulla district 30 cases, Anantnag district 28 cases, Kupwara district 22 cases, Ganderbal district 21 cases, Shopian district 19 cases, Reasi district 15 cases and Kulgam district 12 cases.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,235 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 736 from Jammu division and 499 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 66,261. Also 18 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; seven from Jammu division and 11 from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 1,619 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 880 from Jammu Division and 739 from Kashmir Division. Out of 66,261 positive cases, 21,485 are active positive, 43,734 have recovered and 1,042 have died; 253 in Jammu division and 789 in Kashmir division. Out of 14, 36,409 test results available, 13, 70,148 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 51,008 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 28,480 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 21,485 in isolation and 61,953 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 38,048 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 13,409 positive cases, 2,023 active positive, 11,114 recovered, 272 deaths; Budgam has 4,483 positive cases, 1,617 active positive, 2,788 recovered, 78 deaths; Baramulla has 3,953 positive cases, 1,184 active positive, 2,651 recovered, 118 deaths; Pulwama has 3,650 positive cases, 568 active positive, 3,019 recovered, 63 deaths; Anantnag has 3,316 positive cases, 809 active positive, 2,445 recovered, 62 deaths.
“Kupwara has 3,243 positive cases, 875 active positive, 2,305 recovered, 63 deaths; Bandipora has 3,213 positive cases, 967 active positive, 2,212 recovered, 34 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,637 positive cases, 600 active positive, 2,011 recovered, 26 deaths; Kulgam has 2,200 positive cases, 156 active positive, 2,001 recovered, 43 deaths and Shopian has 1,955 positive cases, 194 active positive, 1,731 recovered, 30 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 10,675 positive cases, 5,863 active positive, 4,669 recovered, 143 deaths; Rajouri has 2,220 positive cases, 1,254 active positive, 940 recovered, 26 deaths; Udhampur has 1,891 positive cases, 690 active positive, 1,191 recovered, 10 deaths; Doda has 1,843 positive cases, 1,210 active positive, 611 recovered, 22 deaths; Kathua has 1,794 positive cases, 675 active positive, 1,104 recovered, 15 deaths.
“Samba has 1,500 positive cases, 824 active positive, 664 recovered, 12 deaths; Poonch has 1,453 positive cases, 864 active positive, 580 recovered, nine deaths; Ramban has 1,127 positive cases, 379 active positive, 742 recovered, six deaths; Kishtwar has 918 positive cases, 422 active positive, 491 recovered, five deaths and Reasi has 781 positive cases, 311 active positive, 465 recovered, five deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 66,261 positive cases in J&K, 8,358 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
