COVID-19 recovery rate in JK gets big boost as 2796 patients recover in one day

SRINAGAR, Sept 23: The COVID-19 recovery rate in Jammu & Kashmir got a major boost today as 2,796 virus affected patients were discharged from different hospitals. At the same time 1,249 fresh cases of virus came up with 20 fresh deaths being reported in past 24 hours.
Jammu district reported 230 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 199 cases, Rajouri district 88 cases, Baramulla district 80 cases, Ganderbal district 74 cases, Budgam district 62 cases, Kupwara and Doda districts 61 cases each, Poonch district 58 cases, Udhampur district 48 cases, Ramban district 44 cases, Bandipora district 41 cases, Anantnag and Kishtwar districts 40 cases each, Samba district 39 cases, Pulwama district 25 cases, Kathua district 24 cases, Reasi district 14 cases, Kulgam district 13 cases and Shopian district eight cases.
Samba district reported four fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Jammu district three deaths, Budgam, Rajouri, Kathua, Doda & Ramban districts two deaths each. A death each was reported in Pulwama, Kupwara and Kishtwar districts. So far 793 Corona Virus deaths have been reported in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division 269 such deaths have taken place.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,249 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 646 from Jammu division and 603 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 67,510. Also 20 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 16 from Jammu division and four from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 2,796 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 1,578 from Jammu Division and 1,218 from Kashmir Division. Out of 67,510 positive cases, 19,918 are active positive, 46,530 have recovered and 1,062 have died; 269 in Jammu division and 793 in Kashmir division. Out of 14, 64,565 test results available, 13, 97,055 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 55,010 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 14,891 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 19,918 in isolation and 59,397 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 59,742 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 13,608 positive cases, 2,063 active positive, 11,273 recovered, 272 deaths; Budgam has 4,545 positive cases, 1,586 active positive, 2,879 recovered, 80 deaths; Baramulla has 4,033 positive cases, 1,217 active positive, 2,698 recovered, 118 deaths; Pulwama has 3,675 positive cases, 526 active positive, 3,085 recovered, 64 deaths; Anantnag has 3,356 positive cases, 413 active positive, 2,881 recovered, 62 deaths.
“Kupwara has 3,304 positive cases, 800 active positive, 2,440 recovered, 64 deaths; Bandipora has 3,254 positive cases, 793 active positive, 2,427 recovered, 34 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,711 positive cases, 629 active positive, 2,056 recovered, 26 deaths; Kulgam has 2,213 positive cases, 147 active positive, 2,023 recovered, 43 deaths and Shopian has 1,963 positive cases, 200 active positive, 1733 recovered, 30 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 10,905 positive cases, 5,021 active positive, 5,738 recovered, 146 deaths; Rajouri has 2,308 positive cases, 1292 active positive, 988 recovered, 28 deaths; Udhampur has 1,939 positive cases, 538 active positive, 1,391 recovered, 10 deaths; Doda has 1,904 positive cases, 1,221 active positive, 659 recovered, 24 deaths; Kathua has 1,818 positive cases, 637 active positive, 1,164 recovered, 17 deaths.
“Samba has 1,539 positive cases, 835 active positive, 688 recovered, 16 deaths; Poonch has 1,511 positive cases, 898 active positive, 604 recovered, nine deaths; Ramban has 1,171 positive cases, 397 active positive, 766 recovered, eight deaths; Kishtwar has 958 positive cases, 435 active positive, 517 recovered, six deaths and Reasi has 795 positive cases, 270 active positive, 520 recovered, five deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 67,510 positive cases in J&K, 8,420 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
