SRINAGAR, Sept 25: The number of positive cases of Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir has reached 69,832 as 1,218 fresh cases of virus were reported today. The death toll has reached 1,105 since 21 deaths were reported in past 24 hours.
Jammu district reported 240 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar 224 cases, Baramulla 64 cases, Budgam and Doda districts 61 cases each, Udhampur district 60 cases, Kishtwar district 55 cases, Ganderbal district 53 cases, Pulwama and Poonch districts 51 cases each, Ramban district 48 cases, Rajouri district 44 cases, Kathua district 39 cases, Anantnag district 36 cases, Kupwara district 31 cases, Samba district 30 cases, Bandipora district 26 cases, Shopian district 25 cases, Reasi district 14 cases and Kulgam district five cases.
Jammu district reported five fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Srinagar district four deaths, Pulwama district three deaths, Udhampur two deaths and a death each in Kupwara, Ganderbal, Shopian, Kathua, Doda, Samba & Poonch districts. So far 811 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley and in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 294.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,218 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 642 from Jammu division and 576 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 69,832. Also 21 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 11 from Jammu division and 10 from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 1,478 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 805 from Jammu Division and 673 from Kashmir Division. Out of 69,832 positive cases, 19,170 are active positive, 49,557 have recovered and 1,105 have died; 294 in Jammu division and 811 in Kashmir division. Out of 15, 13,224 test results available, 14, 43,392 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 61,149 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 14,482 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 19,170 in isolation and 48,752 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 77,640 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 14,024 positive cases, 2,182 active positive, 11,561 recovered, 281 deaths; Budgam has 4,656 positive cases, 1,337 active positive, 3,239 recovered, 80 deaths; Baramulla has 4,169 positive cases, 1,217 active positive, 2,831 recovered, 121 deaths; Pulwama has 3,759 positive cases, 491 active positive, 3,201 recovered, 67 deaths; Anantnag has 3,416 positive cases, 418 active positive, 2,936 recovered, 62 deaths.
“Kupwara has 3,377 positive cases, 838 active positive, 2,474 recovered, 65 deaths; Bandipora has 3,300 positive cases, 734 active positive, 2,532 recovered, 34 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,793 positive cases, 621 active positive, 2,145 recovered, 27 deaths; Kulgam has 2,229 positive cases, 130 active positive, 2,056 recovered, 43 deaths and Shopian has 1,995 positive cases, 182 active positive, 1,782 recovered, 31 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 11,387 positive cases, 4,327 active positive, 6901 recovered, 159 deaths; Rajouri has 2,401 positive cases, 1,315 active positive, 1,056 recovered, 30 deaths; Udhampur has 2,048 positive cases, 545 active positive, 1491 recovered, 12 deaths; Doda has 2,019 positive cases, 1,206 active positive, 788 recovered, 25 deaths; Kathua has 1,893 positive cases, 598 active positive, 1,275 recovered, 20 deaths.
“Poonch has 1,606 positive cases, 939 active positive, 657 recovered, 10 deaths; Samba has 1,606 positive cases, 831 active positive, 756 recovered, 19 deaths; Ramban has 1,257 positive cases, 450 active positive, 799 recovered, eight deaths; Kishtwar has 1,052 positive cases, 499 active positive, 547 recovered, six deaths and Reasi has 845 positive cases, 310 active positive, 530 recovered, five deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 69,832 positive cases in J&K, 8,521 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
