JK reports 586 new cases of Corona Virus, 12 more people die

SRINAGAR, Oct 23: As the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 586 new cases of Corona Virus today the total number of positive cases reached 90,752. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,424 after 12 more people died in the past 24 hours.
Srinagar district reported 154 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district 121 cases, Anantnag district 49 cases, Budgam district 41 cases, Baramulla district 40 cases, Kupwara district 30 cases, Ganderbal district 22 cases, Pulwama district 20 cases, Doda district 14 cases, Bandipora, Udhampur and Kishtwar districts 12 cases each, Kulgam district 11 cases, Rajouri district 10 cases, Poonch district nine cases, Kathua and Ramban districts eight cases each, Samba district seven cases, Reasi district five cases and Shopian district one cases.
Jammu district reported three fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by two deaths each in Srinagar, Anantnag and Bandipora districts. A death each was reported in Baramulla, Ganderbal and Udhampur districts. So far 952 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 472.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 586 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 206 from Jammu division and 380 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 90,752. Also 12 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; four from Jammu division and eight from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 684 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 348 from Jammu Division and 336 from Kashmir Division. Out of 90,752 positive cases, 7,842 are active positive, 81,486 have recovered and 1,424 have died; 472 in Jammu division and 952 in Kashmir division.
Out of 21, 25,790 test results available, 20, 35,038 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 6, 39,551 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 19,395 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,842 in isolation and 50,024 in home surveillance. Besides, 5, 60,866 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 18,401 positive cases, 1,829 active positive, 16,230 recovered, 342 deaths; Budgam has 5,786 positive cases, 350 active positive, 5,345 recovered, 91 deaths; Baramulla has 5,492 positive cases, 1,404 active positive, 3,950 recovered, 138 deaths; Pulwama has 4,527 positive cases, 274 active positive, 4,174 recovered, 79 deaths; Kupwara has 4,205 positive cases, 361 active positive, 3,773 recovered, 71 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,135 positive cases, 369 active positive, 3,693 recovered, 73 deaths; Bandipora has 3,933 positive cases, 262 active positive, 3,626 recovered, 45 deaths; Ganderbal has 3,408 positive cases, 240 active positive, 3,136 recovered, 32 deaths; Kulgam has 2,443 positive cases, 109 active positive, 2,288 recovered, 46 deaths and Shopian has 2,140 positive cases, 63 active positive, 2,042 recovered, 35 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 16,676 positive cases, 935 active positive, 15,495 recovered, 246 deaths; Rajouri has 3,159 positive cases, 208 active positive, 2,906 recovered, 45 deaths; Udhampur has 2,620 positive cases, 123 active positive, 2,469 recovered, 28 deaths; Doda has 2,571 positive cases, 159 active positive, 2369 recovered, 43 deaths; Kathua has 2,368 positive cases, 44 active positive, 2,294 recovered, 30 deaths.
“Poonch has 2,184 positive cases, 359 active positive, 1,803 recovered, 22 deaths; Samba has 2,118 positive cases, 355 active positive, 1,738 recovered, 25 deaths; Kishtwar has 1,824 positive cases, 201 active positive, 1609 recovered, 14 deaths; Ramban has 1,544 positive cases, 92 active positive, 1,440 recovered, 12 deaths and Reasi has 1,218 positive cases, 105 active positive, 1,106 recovered, seven deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 90,752 positive cases in J&K, 9,529 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
