Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 26: Two-day after a report in the Early Times, three prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders from Jammu province resigned from the party against the irresponsible statement of Mehbooba Mufti.
Former Rajya Sabha member, Trilok Singh Bajwa, ex-MLC Ved Mahajan and Gujjar leader of the party, Hussain Ali Bafa wrote a letter to party president Mehbooba Mufti in which there cited many reasons to quit the party.
Bajwa and Mahajan are founder members of the PDP while as Wafa is prominent face of the party in Jammu region.
Bajwa and Mahajan were two prominent figures from Jammu region who had formed PDP under the leadership of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in the year 1999. The duo was considered as confident-men of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Jammu province.
Although the trio has refused to disclose future course of action, sources said that they will join Congress very soon as within hours after their resignation they were approached by the Congress leadership.
Ved Mahajan is a former Congressman. He was treasurer of the party when Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was PCC chief. Similarly Bajwa also remained in the Congress under the leadership of Mufti Sayeed.
The Early Times, in its October 25 edition, has reported that “Jammu based leaders of the felt humiliated and insulted by the party leadership as they were not even informed about party’s decision to take extreme stand on various issues including ‘respecting’ national flag”.
Credible sources said that Jammu based party leaders repeated requested incumbent leadership of PDP, especially Mehbooba Mufti and her advisors, to shut extremist views on contentious issues like national flag but to no avail. Advisors of Mehbooba Mufti bluntly told Jammu based leaders that the party would adopt a more aggressive posture in the coming days. In their letter, the trio reminded Mehbooba Mufti that PDP was formed to provide an viable and credible alternative to National Conference in Kashmir Valley but the incumbent leadership of the party has meekly surrendered before its arch rival and accept to play as second fiddle in the so-called “Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration”.
