BJP again befooled people; new land laws will destroy identity of Dogras: Cong
10/31/2020 11:47:38 PM

JAMMU, Oct 31: Congress today paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Sardar Patel. While paying floral tributes at Jasrotia Palace Dayalachak, former DyCM Tara Chand said nation can’t forget the contribution of Iron lady Indira Gandhi. He said as prime minister, Indira Gandhi was known for her political intransigency and unprecedented centralization of power. She went to war with Pakistan in support of the independence movement of East Pakistan, which resulted in an Indian victory and the creation of Bangladesh, as well as increasing India's influence to the point where it became the sole regional power of Asia. Former DyCM said Indira always be remembered for her fearless decision making powers keeping the integrity of nation first and said she was a symbol of women empowerment and her work was always aimed at upliftment of farmers, poor and down trodden. Speaking on the occasion, former Minister & President DCC Kathua Dr Manohar Lal sharma called the new land laws as the BJP’s betrayal and “conspiracy to enable outsiders to enslave Jammuites”. Rejecting the claim that the new laws will help boost industry in J&K, former minister said the erstwhile state already had laws empowering the government to provide land on 99-year lease to non-permanent residents to set up industry and accused the BJP of “destroying the identity of Dogras”. Addressing the gathering Former Minister Jugal Kishore Sharma pitched for statehood for Jammu in order to remove regional discrimination. Jugal Sharma lambasted local BJP leadership for cheating the nationalist people of Jammu. He further questioned that why BJP leadership of Jammu is keeping mum on J&K being converted to UT from a state and further said that they played hand in gloves with center to make J&K a UT and further to hide their failure to fulfill their promise of providing statehood to Jammu, they are deviating the common masses. Former MLC Subash Gupta demanded immediate restriction free inter-state movement at Lakhanpur as the business, tourism industry, students, patients and laborers are being badly harassed and facing unwanted restrictions at Lakhanpur through the hands of officials.
Former MLC Naresh gupta said setting up District Councils will “disempower the people. He said Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central government’s move to establish directly elected District Development Councils (DDCs) in Jammu and Kashmir, which has been under Central rule for more than two years now, has taken everyone in the Union Territory is being described as “new experiment” which will further disempower and fragment the voice of the people of J&K.
