SRINAGAR, Nov 21: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 608 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases in the union territory reached 1, 05,984.
The death toll reached 1624 with two deaths being reported in past 24 hours.
Srinagar district reported 124 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district 115 cases, Udhampur district 68 cases, Budgam district 47 cases, Baramulla district 40 cases, Kishtwar district 35 cases, Doda district 28 cases, Ramban district 23 cases, Pulwama district 21 cases, Kupwara, Bandipora and Ganderbal district 16 cases each, Kathua district 14 cases, Samba district 13 cases, Anantnag district 12 cases, Rajouri district eight cases, Shopian and Reasi districts four cases each, Poonch district three cases and Kulgam district one case.
Bandipora district in Kashmir valley and Udhampur district in Jammu division each reported a fresh Corona Virus death. So far 1,073 people have lost their lives due to the virus in the Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division 551 virus related deaths have taken place so far. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 608 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 311 from Jammu division and 297 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 05,984. Also two COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and one from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 564 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 182 from Jammu Division and 382 from Kashmir Division. Out of 1, 05,984 positive cases, 5,720 are active positive, 98,640 have recovered and 1,624 have died; 551 in Jammu division and 1,073 in Kashmir division.
Out of 27, 83,244 test results available, 26, 77,260 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 7, 60,258 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 19,506 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 5,720 in isolation and 47,098 in home surveillance. Besides, 6, 86,310 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 22,243 positive cases, 1,531 active positive, 20,310 recovered, 402 deaths; Baramulla has 7,191 positive cases, 568 active positive, 6,464 recovered, 159 deaths; Budgam has 6,677 positive cases, 288 active positive, 6,291 recovered, 98 deaths; Kupwara has 5,027 positive cases, 503 active positive, 4,444 recovered, 80 deaths; Pulwama has 4,962 positive cases, 160 active positive, 4,716 recovered, 86 deaths;
“Anantnag has 4,495 positive cases, 189 active positive, 4,229 recovered, 77 deaths; Bandipora has 4,333 positive cases, 188 active positive, 4,095 recovered, 50 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,076 positive cases, 254 active positive, 3,785 recovered, 37 deaths; Kulgam has 2,570 positive cases, 77 active positive, 2,445 recovered, 48 deaths and Shopian has 2,297 positive cases, 69 active positive, 2,192 recovered, 36 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 19,625 positive cases, 590 active positive, 18,748 recovered, 287 deaths; Rajouri has 3,357 positive cases, 88 active positive, 3,220 recovered, 49 deaths; Udhampur has 3,258 positive cases, 364 active positive, 2,857 recovered, 37 deaths; Doda has 2,918 positive cases, 167 active positive, 2,699 recovered, 52 deaths; Kathua has 2,677 positive cases, 76 active positive, 2,566 recovered, 35 deaths.
“Poonch has 2,367 positive cases, 71 active positive, 2,274 recovered, 22 deaths; Samba has 2,353 positive cases, 163 active positive, 2164 recovered, 26 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,322 positive cases, 170 active positive, 2,136 recovered, 16 deaths; Ramban has 1,826 positive cases, 148 active positive, 1,660 recovered, 18 deaths and Reasi has 1,410 positive cases, 56 active positive, 1345 recovered, nine deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 05,984 positive cases in J&K, 10,528 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
