| Peace loving Valleyites aghast but exhibit maturity, wisdom | | | Bashir Assad
Srinagar, June 30: Despite suffering a huge spiritual wound in the aftermath of gutting of Hazrat Peer Dastgeer Sahib Shrine in a devastating fire on Monday, the people of Kashmir have not left the reason leave their minds. The way Muslims having divine faith in Gous-al-Azam behaved and not let their emotions run out of bonds is exemplary and this clearly indicates that the people of this trouble torn region have come a long way in handling the emotionally delicate and sensitive issues and of course have learnt much from the past which, no doubt was horrendous and horrible were the people got swayed by the situations and politicians across the country exploited the situation for their own vested interests. And much to the dismay apolitical bodies like trade organizations, educational societies and the work force too got trapped in vicious circle.
However, this time around trade bodies and trade unions have displayed magnanimity, wisdom and farsightedness that without waiting for political elites to issue calendars, they have appealed the spiritually wounded people of Kashmir to resume their normal work from Saturday and come to the terms with this great tragedy.
However, that does not mean people must become a statue of silence or indifference. The government owes answer to many questions and people have the right to seek those answers. And at the same time people are duty bound towards their own self and their future generations. One of the great leaders of the world of his times has said, "There are no rights except duties and from the duties well done follow rights" and this is how nations introspect and chose the right way, adopt right approach in extraordinary situations which always throw challenges.
"It is an irreparable loss indeed. But then one has to come to terms with this tragedy of appalling magnitude' said Khursheed Aalam, veteran trade union leader. We had appealed the people in general and government employees in particular t o resume their work from Saturday and it was quite appreciating that normal business was resumed today ," he said.
Aalam acclaimed the people of Kashmir for displaying patience and wisdom despite being pained by the loss of most revered and respected shrine of Peer Dastgeer Sahib. Alam while talking to Early Times said, though the loss of the shrine was irreparable inflicting spiritual injuries to the Muslims, however, we have to come to the terms with the tragedy and reconcile with the realities.
