militantEarly Times Report
SOPORE, June 30: For the first time under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Police in Sopore today seized a Pakistan-based militant's Santro car and attached his properties, including a residential house and orchards spread over 15 kanals of land.
The land measuring around 15 kanals located at eight different spots including apple orchards and house premises belonging to Abdul Razaq Lone S/O Abdul Aziz Lone R/O Wagub, Sopore, and his son Abdul Hamid Lone was formally attached by the investigating officer in presence of revenue authorities. "This property is attached under section 25 of ULA (P) Act and shall not be transferred or dealt otherwise without the prior permission of the investigating officer" read the play cards erected at the attached spots of property.
A press release said that the property holders had been found involved in funding militancy through covert channels for which a Case FIR NO: 473/2009 u/s 13,17,21,40 ULA (P) Act, stood registered in Police Station Sopore. Police has found during the course of the investigation that brother of the accused Ab Hamid, namely Abdul Majeed Lone, was a member of banned militant organization Hizbul Mujahideen and was presently based in POK.

Abdul Majeed, according to the Police handout, had asked his brother Ab Hamid to transfer the value share of his landed property to him through militant channels. Ab Hamid has already handed over an amount of Rs three Lakh as an installment of the value share of the property of his brother Ab Majeed to the militants of Lashkare-Toiba(LeT) operating in Sopore.

"Based on the credible evidence that the remaining portion of the land was likely to be used for the purposes of terrorist organization the land under Khasra Nos: 383, 386, and 390 situated at village Wagub, has been attached by the investigating officer of the above quoted crime case", said the handout.

Some other cases of militant funding in Sopore area have also surfaced during the course of investigation for which action under law is being contemplated and none will be spared, added the press release.
