Govt orders inquiry into death of pregnant woman

SRINAGAR, July 17 : The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of a pregnant woman in a government hospital in Kupwara district. Officials said here today that the District Magistrate (DM), Kupwara has nominated the Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Kupwara R K Bhat as inquiry officer into the death case of pregnant women Khalida, who died during operation in the Sub-District Hospital Kupwara on July 13.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kupwara and Medical Superintendent, Handwara has been directed to depute gynaecologist, Dr Fareeda Khan and Surgeon, District Hospital Handwara, Dr Noor-ud-Din for assisting the inquiry officer.
The District Magistrate has ordered the inquiry officer to furnish his report within a month to his office for further necessary action. Death of woman evoked massive protests in Kupwara, alleging negligence of doctors.
