Jagti tenants demand enhancement of cash relief

Jammu, Aug 28: A meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee was held today under the presidentship of its president, Shadi Lal Pandita to discuss their demands and grievances.The meeting was critical to the government who has been paying a deaf ear to the demand for the enhancement of the cash assistance to the migrants from present Rs 5000/ per family per month to 15000/ per family per month.The members in the meeting again showed grave concern over the dilapidated condition of a portion of road near Kandoli Nagrota which has been causing grave difficulties. They also demanded for advertising the remaining 3000 posts under the Prime Minister's Employment Package and also creating some 500 class IV posts to accommodate less qualified migrants youth. While addressing the meeting Shadi Lal Pandita said that the KP migrants have since migrant in shown keen desire to return and get rehabilitated in the valley. He demanded compensation of Rs 2.0 lakh per family per each year of migration to be paid in one installment. The other demands included enhancement of cash assistance to Rs 5000 to Rs 15000 per month, construction of passenger sheds, dispensary, availability of shops, etc in the Jagti camp.
The prominent who attended the meeting included Rajinder Dhar, Deepak Bhat, Inderjeet Labroo, Ramesh Bhat, Satish Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Ramji Bhat, M.L.Akhoon, M.L.Pandita, V.K. Bhan and Chaman Lal.
